13:19 Sebbo1 Hi, can me somebody explain, why a simle "ls -lh" takes multiple seconds (+30s) until I get the listing? I've this problem only a few servers within the same subnet. All servers have the same configuration (used Ansible automation to ensure that).
13:20 abyss^ Gambit15: Have you read this?;) There's about deleteing files/dir ;)
13:20 abyss^ I'am asking is there different approach;)

13:23 Gambit15 abyss^, even if you want to merge the differences between the files, you'd still need to "delete" one & then merge the differences manually
13:25 kotreshhr joined #gluster
13:26 abyss^ Gambit15: ok, but I have folder which have metadata split-brain, so to repair it I have to delete whole dir?;)
13:26 abyss^ which has about 150GB data
13:27 abyss^ (that directory)

15:15 JoeJulian abyss^: For directories, I usually just manipulate the ,,(extended attributes) on those directories.
15:15 glusterbot abyss^: (#1) To read the extended attributes on the server: getfattr -m .  -d -e hex {filename}, or (#2) For more information on how GlusterFS uses extended attributes, see this article: http://pl.atyp.us/hekafs.org/index.php/2011/04/glusterfs-extended-attributes/
15:16 JoeJulian cloph: I disable that for any volume I create, leaving the actual heal up to the self-heal daemon which can do it much more efficiently.
15:17 cloph and does it only matter when there is a heal needed, or will that also help if let's say only one client is accessing files?
15:19 arc0 joined #gluster

19:07 JoeJulian irated: Sorry, I just don't have enough information to determine why you're seeing a high load. Maybe "gluster volume top" could give you a clue. Otherwise, I guess I would either use a profiler or wireshark to see what's actually happening.

19:41 irated is it bad to point different nodes to different endpoints
19:41 irated i.e. if you have two servers with replicated brickets and one client is pointed to one and the other is pointed to two
19:41 irated Does that create issues?
19:41 irated or slow things down?
19:42 JoeJulian @mount server
19:42 glusterbot JoeJulian: (#1) The server specified is only used to retrieve the client volume definition. Once connected, the client connects to all the servers in the volume. See also @rrdns, or (#2) One caveat is that the clients never learn of any other management peers. If the client cannot communicate with the mount server, that client will not learn of any volume changes.

19:44 irated interesting
19:44 irated I pointed the server that was pointed to the other server directly to the first as well

19:44 irated and the load seems to have gone away :/
19:45 irated Now if i can just get heal count to go down :)
