16:11 kkeithley yes, they're fine. The CentOS Storage SIG only keeps one — the latest — version, in each of 3.x series.  ndevos, is that accurate?
16:11 nbalacha joined #gluster
16:11 k4n0 joined #gluster
16:12 ndevos slick20: they did not get removed, they just never made it out of testing before the next update became available
16:14 ndevos kkeithley: packages do not get removed, you can still install older minor versions, as long as you pass the full version on the yum commandline: yum install glusterfs-server-3.8.2
16:14 kkeithley okay, couldn't remember the specifics
16:14 slick20 ndevos : ok thx... what about version 3.9.. is the safe and recommended version for production ?
16:17 slick20 what is the recommened way to use samba/cifs  with glusterfs  volumes as backend storage ?
16:17 ndevos slick20: 3.9 will become available from the CentOS Storage SIG later this week, you can use it in production, but it is a short-term-maintenance release, and will not get updates when 3.10 is released (later this month, or early Feb.)
16:18 slick20 ndevos, ok great.. so i should avoid it for now if im installing production ?
16:18 slick20 3.8.8 would be more long term supported ?
16:18 ndevos slick20: not 'avoid', but be prepared to update it in a month again

16:23 slick20 ndevos, i saw some documentation, but somes are using CTDB  (Cluster Trivial Database)  and others Samba VFS library. not sure which one should apply to gluster 3.8.8
16:25 ndevos slick20: they address different functionalities, CTDB is the clustering+locking part, vfs_glusterfs the communication with the Gluster Volume, you will need both
16:25 ndevos musa22: does ,,(split-brain) help you?
16:25 glusterbot musa22: (#1) To heal split brain, rtfm at http://gluster.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Troubleshooting/heal-info-and-split-brain-resolution/ first., or (#2) For versions older than 3.7, see splitmount https://joejulian.name/blog/glusterfs-split-brain-recovery-made-easy/, or (#3) For manual brick-level recovery see http://gluster.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Troubleshooting/spli

16:36 slick20 ndevos, ok thx... lastly, could we just add samba  support after setting up the glusterfs volumes, or this must be think in advance  during the volumes/brick  installation?
16:36 ndevos slick20: afterwards is no problem at all
16:41 slick20 ndevos, ok i might just install glusterfs as usual, try it out.. and them if its working fine, add samba on top of it.

19:15 genial Hi, quick question about memory usage in the FUSE client. I've noticed that consumption will keep increasing steadily during a find/rsync/etc. Just completed a rsync of ~4M files and memory usage is now at 5GB for the glusterfs process. Did a statedump and it contains ~4M "xlator.mount.fuse.itable.lru" entries. Is this considered normal? GlusterFS 3.8.7 on Ubuntu16.04, Linux 4.4.0.
