15:37 calisto Hi all, I have 3 nodes connected as peer on Gluster, 2 nodes have a disk(brick) over glusterfs using replica, all nodes mount via NFS(gluster NFS service ON) with IP 127.0.0.1 in /netstorage. The question is: In this scheme the node has no disk (brick) and mount 127.0.0.1 in /netstorage have a round robing data transfer over the another 2 servers?

16:12 kshlm calisto, It's nearly that. For reads, the server that responds first will be used. Writes wil go to both the servers.
16:13 shutupsquare joined #gluster
16:15 jdossey joined #gluster
16:17 calisto kshlm: all reads operations are send to all servers all the time? or the first server to response the first read operation are selected to use in all other reads operations ?
16:19 kshlm calisto, the replicate tranlator sends requests to all servers all the time. For read operations, it returns with the first reply recieved, for writes it returns after all replies are recieved.

16:42 calisto a ok, its posible kshlm change the politic of the reads request to round robin politic in context of a local net, to avoid unnecessary read operations, if all read operations are requested to  all gluster nodes, and only the first response are processed all the rest perform IO operations over a disk and not useful making unnecessary overhead

19:13 JoeJulian calisto: Check out "gluster volume set help". Look for "cluster.read-hash-mode". Remember, it's more efficient to read from a server that already has read from any one file because it's more likely to be reading from cache.

22:30 cyberbootje hi all, any recommendations when using ZFS + GlusterFS on top of it?
22:30 shutupsquare joined #gluster
22:33 JoeJulian put in lots of ram
22:33 cyberbootje yeah, had that in mind already
22:34 cyberbootje i used glusterfs a while ago, maybe around 3 years ago when gluster was relatively new to use it in combination with KVM... any clue hos stable it is now?
22:37 cyberbootje how*
22:41 JoeJulian I've had good luck for years and years.
22:42 cyberbootje no weird issues with sync or split brain, etc.. ?
22:43 cyberbootje because i'm talking here about a possible setup for at least something around 70TB redundant
22:47 JoeJulian I've been doing replica 3 since I started, so I've seldom had split-brain problems unless I caused them.
22:49 cyberbootje that means files will be stored 3 times
22:50 cyberbootje there is still no "snapshot" feature in glusterfs i assume?

23:46 Gambit15 cyberbootje, oVirt (KVM/Qemu) on Gluster has been a thing for a good while now
23:46 Gambit15 Red Hat sells the package under the RHEV & RHGS brand
23:47 cyberbootje Gambit15: interesting
