01:02 xMopxShell i have a distributed array with a mix of 6TB and 3TB bricks. The 6TB bricks are around 85% used but the 3TB bricks are around 40% used. How can i balance these out?
01:02 xMopxShell running a rebalance or fix-layout doesn't seem to change anything
01:05 JoeJulian xMopxShell: You might have luck if you run a rebalance with the force keyword. Gluster will, but default, not move a file from a brick with more free space to one with less.
01:06 xMopxShell JoeJulian: is more free space calculated by absolute value (as opposed to %)? that would explain it

01:09 xMopxShell that seems to be moving things in the right direction, thanks!
01:09 JoeJulian yes, actual space not %.

12:27 itisravi dr_bob_bob: Is it a new set of files that show up in heal-info every time?
12:33 dr_bob_bob hey ravi, thank u for answering me
12:33 dr_bob_bob no its always the same
12:33 dr_bob_bob a gfid id
12:40 primehaxor joined #gluster
12:44 itisravi dr_bob_bob: if it is different files/ gfids every time, then I think you should check the connection between your clients and the bricks
12:44 dr_bob_bob its awlays the same not different
12:44 dr_bob_bob clients are actually not involved at the moment
12:45 dr_bob_bob its just the two bricks trying to get healthy ;-)
12:45 itisravi sorry misread your earlier comment.
12:45 itisravi so it is the same gfid.
12:45 dr_bob_bob ya
12:45 itisravi hmm. what does glustershd log say on both nodes when you launch the heal?

12:50 dr_bob_bob yes
12:50 rwheeler joined #gluster
12:50 itisravi ok, then does it go on to say "Completed entry selfheal.." on the same gfid?
12:51 dr_bob_bob no
12:51 * itisravi wonders why not.
12:52 dr_bob_bob then we are two who wonder why not ;-)
12:52 itisravi :)
12:52 itisravi Do you know the directory corresponding to the gfid?
12:53 itisravi I mean the name of the dir.
12:53 dr_bob_bob cpu utilization is abt 1-2ghz on both bricks btw
12:53 dr_bob_bob i have an idea what folder this may be ya
12:53 itisravi ah then I'm guessing the entry self heal is still in progress.
12:53 dr_bob_bob can i check that somewhere?
12:54 itisravi There was a script that gave the absolute path for a given gfid . hold on
12:54 dr_bob_bob the progress is now taking abt two weeks ;-)
12:56 itisravi https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs/blob/master/extras/gfid-to-dirname.sh should give you the path for a given directory gfid
12:56 glusterbot Title: glusterfs/gfid-to-dirname.sh at master · gluster/glusterfs · GitHub (at github.com)
12:57 itisravi If you found out the directoyy name, the idea was to see if there was a mismatch in its contents in the 2 bricks.

13:05 dr_bob_bob and the servers are pretty fresh installed with 3.10.1
13:06 itisravi should show up in volume info.
13:06 itisravi the 'cluster.granular-entry-heal' option.
13:06 aardbolreiziger joined #gluster
13:06 itisravi or `gluster volume get volname cluster.granular-entry-heal`
13:07 gyadav joined #gluster
13:10 dr_bob_bob not activated
13:11 itisravi hmm okay, you might want to enable it *after* the current heals complete. granular entry heals are faster and consume less system resources.
13:11 itisravi dr_bob_bob: got to go now..
13:12 dr_bob_bob oh ok, thank u very much so far!
13:13 itisravi ask away on the users-mailing list if you have any queries :)
