00:33 doc|home Hi, using debian under kubernetes+docker I get 'unknown filesystem type glusterfs' on boot, but it works fine when I use mount. Anyone know what might cause that?

01:25 andrewbolt I've mistakenly rm-rf'd an important dir mounted. The brick is an ext4 fs. Attempts to utilize `extundelete` and `ext4magic` yet it list no files/dirs as recoverable.
01:27 andrewbolt The dir included 40+ GBs or data, there's no possibility the time frame between the deletion and the recovery attempts could've yielded the 40GBs+ data rewritten
01:27 andrewbolt So I'm suspecting glusterfs got a hand in this (GlusterFS 3.7.11)
01:28 andrewbolt any idea? anyone?

08:20 askz Hello, I updated my cluster (two nodes) and now the glusterfs service is failing to start, I recently updated my hosts file too, I think it's related but I can't find how
08:20 askz @paste
08:20 glusterbot askz: For a simple way to paste output, install netcat (if it's not already) and pipe your output like: | nc termbin.com 9999
08:20 ekarlso hey guys, wondering a bit we have 3 now servers with 6*2tb in each, what is the optimal setup for this?
08:21 ekarlso we're getting up another one with 6*2 tb as well in a week ish
08:21 askz http://termbin.com/9ddq
08:27 jonar joined #gluster
08:28 ekarlso noone that knows ? : o
08:34 cloph ekarlso: depends on what your goals are
08:37 cloph but with 2tb disk that likely means:  rotating disks, so I would likely aggregate those into a Raid0 or raid10
08:39 sona joined #gluster
08:41 askz anyone?
08:45 askz the most weird part, is that the cluster is still replicating files.....
08:45 askz (thanks god)
08:45 cloph you should start with peer status and as you said you  changed hosts file make sure you  can ping/access the hosts
08:46 askz I can't because of that : Connection failed. Please check if gluster daemon is operational.
08:46 jonar askz, anything in the logs?
08:46 askz I pasted above
08:47 cloph different logs maybe? or start with your system's log when you  try to launch glusterd service
08:48 jonar asks, its suggesting you look at your volfile
08:48 askz this is brick logs http://termbin.com/jty7
08:49 askz jonar: yup I checked, and the volfile didn't move between the upgrade, the only thing was hosts file and I think I'm good with that too.. will paste it
08:50 jonar what happens if you manually launch glusterd?
08:51 askz https://hastebin.com/woletusiba.rb this is hosts file
08:51 glusterbot Title: hastebin (at hastebin.com)
08:51 askz I'll try
08:53 askz https://hastebin.com/zobozidejo.sql this is when I launch with --debug

09:04 Klas askz: was that 3.10->3.11? Someone had major issues with that yesterday.
09:04 cloph maybe stating the obvious: the peers actually do have an ip as listed in the hosts file? also firewall is adjusted for those
09:06 jonar Unable to find friend: web2.par
09:07 jonar have you opened up the relevant firewall ports?
09:17 MrAbaddon joined #gluster
09:19 jonar does anyone have any nfs-ganesha/pacemaker documentation links?
09:19 apandey joined #gluster
09:20 askz firewall is disabled...
09:20 askz and Klas , this was minor version like 3.11.2 -> 3.11.3
09:20 askz something like that
09:20 askz cloph: yup, you can state it in my paste
09:21 cloph no, there is nothing about your actual interface configuration - or I did miss the paste where you show your network-card config.
09:24 karthik_us joined #gluster
09:25 jonar askz, take it you get a successful ping on web2.par from web3.par and vice versa?
09:29 askz http://termbin.com/43sk
09:30 askz and web3 http://termbin.com/n7xi
09:30 askz jonar: yup
09:31 jonar from your log > address-family not specified, marking it as unspec for getaddrinfo to resolve from (remote-host: 10.5.68.143)
09:31 jonar looks like its using the primary IP of your nic
09:32 jonar oh, forget that, its using 10.0.20.2 later on
09:33 cloph not familiar with the notation, but "inet addr:10.0.20.3  P-t-P:10.0.20.3" is a link to itself only?
09:34 cloph would expect it to point either to your intranet router or to that other host.. But then maybe I'm misunderstanding that syntax.
09:35 askz cloph: it's a tinc vpn, maybe I get the problem here. In fact I changed IP adress (physical card to virtual (tun0)) and it stills want to use the physical address
09:35 askz cloph: it's mesh vpn *
09:35 jonar cloph, it looks like a point to point network
09:35 askz so yeah, it's pointing on itself
09:35 askz that's normal
09:37 jonar presume there's no firewalls between the nodes?
09:37 askz it was that....
09:37 askz not the firewall but the IP behind the hostname
09:37 askz really weird.
09:38 askz why use hostnames then?
09:38 askz ok, it's hardcoded in hosts file -.-
09:38 askz thanks guys and sorry for the newbie I am
09:39 jonar strange one that

I've been following through this guide http://blog.gluster.org/2015/10/linux-scale-out-nfsv4-using-nfs-ganesha-and-glusterfs-one-step-at-a-time/ but for me it seems to be missing elements around the VIP and clustering parts. Just wondered if there was any other documentation out there which detailed it a little more?
12:27 jiffin kkeithley says everything behind clustering is *hoodoo magic*
12:28 jiffin so i am not much familiar with that
12:28 jiffin kkeithley will be back on Monday
12:28 jiffin either send me him mail ccing gluster-usr ML or ping him on monday

13:09 dijuremo This may be more of a samba questions, but.... Anyone here running  Samba/CTDB on top of glusterfs? Seems like since I put my ctdb configuration and lockfile in the gluster volume, ctdb usually fails to start on a clean server reboot, say when we reboot our two gluster servers for updates. Have you all seen that? Is there a trick to change this on
13:09 dijuremo CentOS 7 with systemd?

23:05 JoeJulian dijuremo2: I'd want to look at the ,,(extended attributes) for one of the files that's failing from all the bricks. Especially good would be to grab those, do the double-rename fix, then grab them again to see what's changed.
23:05 glusterbot dijuremo2: (#1) To read the extended attributes on the server: getfattr -m .  -d -e hex {filename}, or (#2) For more information on how GlusterFS uses extended attributes, see this article: http://pl.atyp.us/hekafs.org/index.php/2011/04/glusterfs-extended-attributes/
