03:55 tarepanda On GlusterFS 3.10.0 (CentOS 7.3) and with a single replicated volume, two bricks. Both bricks show ok in status but are very obviously out of sync... trying to heal yields "unsuccessful on bricks that are down"
03:55 tarepanda heal info spits out a large list of files but freezes after a specific one
03:56 tarepanda sync fails with "is not a friend"
03:56 tarepanda Any ideas on what I can do to get these two bricks back in sync?

12:34 anthony25 hi
12:34 glusterbot anthony25: Despite the fact that friendly greetings are nice, please ask your question. Carefully identify your problem in such a way that when a volunteer has a few minutes, they can offer you a potential solution. These are volunteers, so be patient. Answers may come in a few minutes, or may take hours. If you're still in the channel, someone will eventually off
12:36 anthony25 I have a quite specific need and am thinking about glusterfs but don't know if it could be a solution: all my music library is in flac, I would like to sync it on my laptop, but not entirely
12:37 anthony25 so, long story short: remote disk with cache on my laptop (like 20GB), allowing me to listen to the last downloaded albums offline
12:38 anthony25 I've read the glusterfs doc, but didn't find if this setup is possible
12:39 anthony25 and yeah, an "easy" and logical answer would be to use a player that handles some cache for me… but they don't seem to exist on linux :(
12:39 anthony25 (and I'm not super in the mood to fork mpd and add this feature)

15:33 juhaj You want to sync two directories, not use a filesystem which syncs itself. Syncthing will do that nicely although you'll have to create and update the cache manually unless you are prepared to sync everything all the time.
15:34 juhaj If you want a filesystem which does that, you want openafs with garching's offline patches. It does exactly what you describe: caches last used files for offline use.
16:02 anthony25 juhaj: cool, thanks
16:07 anthony25 juhaj: I already use syncthing between my desktop and my nas
16:08 anthony25 but on my desktop, I don't have any space issue, on my laptop it's another problem…

16:22 samppah_ i'm upgrading from glusterfs 3.7 -> 3.8. Is it safe to use cluster.shd-max-threads and cluster.shd-wait-qlength options with 3.7 clients?
