12:07 Snowman hey there
12:08 Snowman I would like small advice from you
12:08 Snowman I use qemu to access VM image with libgfapi
12:08 Snowman [2018-01-18 08:13:25.546270] E [MSGID: 104007] [glfs-mgmt.c:637:glfs_mgmt_getspec_cbk] 0-glfs-mgmt: failed to fetch volume file (key:gv0vmstore) [Invalid argument] Thu Jan 18 09:13:26 2018 [Z0][VMM][I]: [2018-01-18 08:13:25.546401] E [MSGID: 104024] [glfs-mgmt.c:738:mgmt_rpc_notify] 0-glfs-mgmt: failed to connect with remote-host: localhost (Permission denied) [Permission denied]

12:08 Snowman I got [Permission denied] and dunno why
12:08 Snowman do you have any idea what can cause this type of problem ?
12:09 rastar Snowman: if firewall is all configured properly then I think it is IPv6 related
12:10 rastar Snowman: gluster listens only on IPv4, try changing "localhost" to "127.0.0.1"
12:10 Snowman hmm good point
12:10 Snowman i am going to disable it
12:11 tontsa selinux can also cause errors like that
12:14 Snowman this is ubuntu 16.04 without selinux instaled
12:18 tontsa ubuntu has apparmor
12:24 Snowman i will disable ipv6 via grub (ipv6.disable=1) and after reboot i will see , also i will check apparmor
12:25 Snowman thanks for now

16:11 pioto Hi, how does Gluster handle shared locks (flock(), etc)? If I take out a lock on one client, would another client see that lock?
16:11 pioto Only thing I'm finding in the docs is about mandatory locks, which are a differnet beast
16:23 shyam joined #gluster
16:25 kpease joined #gluster
16:27 kkeithley It doesn't. GlusterFS only supports fcntl() (i.e. mandatory) locking. Same as NFS.
16:31 pioto No, IIRC, mandatory locks are "the kernel automagically locks the file on open()", fcntl()/flock() are "advisory" locks -- if both ends don't call fcntl(), then nothing enforces the lock
16:31 jtux left #gluster
16:32 pioto Or are you sayuing it only supports the "Mandatory locking" modes of fcntl()? http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/fcntl.2.html
16:32 glusterbot Title: fcntl(2) - Linux manual page (at man7.org)
16:34 pioto IIRC, NFS supports the Advisory locks, if configured correctly, but has annoying caveats...
16:34 kkeithley gluster supports fcntl() locking, just like NFS
16:35 pioto OK, so "advisory", thanks for the clarification :)
16:35 mallorn joined #gluster
16:35 kkeithley yes, I erred when I wrote mandatory
16:35 pioto How does it handle a client being killed off less nicely? Like NFSv3 or v4? :)
16:35 pioto (In other words, does it have some way to free up locks from dead clients?)
16:36 kkeithley when the client disconnects the locks are abandoned
16:36 kkeithley cleared
16:36 pioto Ah, yes, unlike NFS it's using stateful networking protocols (TCP?)
16:37 kkeithley yes, gluster uses tcp.
16:37 kkeithley (or rdma)
16:37 pioto Great, thanks. I'm looking at some stuff that requires locking to work "right", and am having flashbacks to fighting with NFSv3 back-in-the-day :)

20:44 mallorn We have a new problem with 3.13.0.  Now, if we go into the top level directory of a mountpoint and execute an 'ls' nothing shows up.  If we know the name of a file we can look at it or cd into that directory, but an ls shows nothing.  You have to know the name of the file you want to access beforehand.
20:54 jkroon joined #gluster
21:03 mallorn Actually, I think that's the getdents bug fixed in 3.13.1.
