14:07 chdslv Can we write in English?
14:08 melodie sure
14:08 melodie hi chdslv
14:08 melodie where are you from?
14:08 chdslv Hi
14:08 chdslv I am from Poland
14:08 melodie welcome on the Linuxvillage community!
14:09 chdslv Yesterday I found your site by chance. I am glad I did so
14:09 chdslv This is the first time I am using web chat
14:10 chdslv Downloaded both Trusty and Vivid isos and am trying them.
14:11 melodie ok
14:11 chdslv Did you make them by yourself?
14:11 melodie did you download the official versions? What machine do you have?
14:12 melodie for this question you might want to read at the home page of the new website: http://bentovillage.me
14:12 chdslv I'll have look there
14:17 chdslv Did you use Ubuntu Builder to create them?
14:18 chdslv I read the page on UB on LinuxVillage website
14:18 melodie yes, Ubuntu Builder has been the main tool up to recently. I just switched for Customizer.
14:19 chdslv Is that easier than Remastersys?
14:19 melodie it's very different
14:20 chdslv ?
14:20 melodie Remastersys allows you to do a snapshot of your installed system, so from there you could also do a remix, but this is very un perfect because you have all the processes of your session running while you remix
14:20 melodie and there is a lot to clean before doing so, if you want to make the product as clean as possible
14:20 melodie with ubuntu builder and customizer, you work in a chroot and only what needs to be mounted (dev sys and proc) are mounted.
14:21 melodie then, from there, the trick to use if you want to see what the result will be, is to use a host environment similar to what you will produce, and copy the relevant configuration files in the chrooted system
14:21 melodie so that the preferences be ported there
14:22 melodie however, you can have as many applications you want and need in the host, and install a different set in the chroot.
14:22 melodie I hope my explanation is clear
14:24 chdslv I understand about the chroot system, but I haven't used Ubuntu builder at all. It won't get installed in Ubuntu Wily as theer is no gambas2 in the repos
14:25 melodie you can try Customizer
14:25 melodie https://github.com/clearkimura/Customizer
14:25 melodie and
14:25 melodie https://github.com/clearkimura/Customizer/wiki/First-guide
14:26 melodie be careful though, it's very CPU greedy
14:26 melodie I use it in a quad core
14:26 melodie in my tower, AMD with two cores it has killed my session
14:27 melodie "Model name:            AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 260 Processor"
