03:11 jeffreykegler I'm working on a new blog post, trying to get folks imaginations working on what a more powerful parser can do for them.
03:13 jeffreykegler I've just uppasted a script which prototypes a hypothetical hash key syntax, where you can do "{a => b => '42', d => e => '711'}" and get a hash of hashes.
03:13 jeffreykegler You can also have whitespace in key names without quoting them
03:15 jeffreykegler Such a new syntax might be possible with Perl 5's current parser, but it would not be easy and make an already very difficult maintenance situation worse ...
03:15 jeffreykegler whereas with Marpa, the syntax part of it is very simple, and further extensions would be just as simple.

23:35 ronsavage Does Perl run on platforms which Marpa won't compile on?
23:37 jeffreykegler ronsavage: With one exception, if you can compile Perl, you should be able to compile Marpa ...
23:37 jeffreykegler the exception is if your compiler does not support "long long int"
23:38 jeffreykegler Otherwise Marpa compiles with any C90 compiler
23:48 jeffreykegler ronsavage: Btw, I'd "fix" that exception, if we find some platform for which it is a real issue.
