04:42 rns Marpa-R2-2.091_001 built, tested, installed successfully under cygwin (5.14.2, gcc) and windows (5.18.1, cl/nmake).
04:42 jeffreykegler rns: Thanks!

07:18 sivoais this might be of interest to Marpa users. The "Standard Flavored Markdown" spec doesn't have a grammar. People commenting here think that an Earley parser could handle it: <http://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/2fdsan/standard_flavored_markdown/ck8flq4>
07:18 sivoais here's the spec: <http://commonmark.org/>
07:21 sivoais if someone has the tuits to get that done, I'm sure it can be a great marketing tool for Marpa outside of Perl users.
07:48 ronsavage I've thought of 'doing' Markdown many times, but have never had the incentive.....
07:49 shadowpaste "ronsavage" at 124.170.35.156 pasted "Trouble combining BNFs for comments" (240 lines) at http://scsys.co.uk:8002/421987
07:50 ronsavage http://scsys.co.uk:8002/421987 Need help combining BNFs for comments.
08:03 rns s/:start   ::= statement/statements      ::= statement+/ seems to do the job.
08:10 rns re http://irclog.perlgeek.de/marpa/2014-09-08#i_9314545 — me too. The spec looks like an incentive, if a minor one.
08:21 ronsavage rns: Well spotted! I built this up from a tiny example and forgot to go back to basics. $many x $thanx;
08:32 rns ronsavage: glad it worked.
08:47 ronsavage It fails when I transfer the code in the real program (which is fairly long) but I'll work on that myself ATM.
08:52 ronsavage Problem fixed.

16:44 jeffreykegler I skimmed the reddit Markdown thread -- reading these things I'll often get this "parallel universes" feeling -- that is, that they are living in another universe, one very much like our own, but where writing a parser is still an extremely difficult thing to do.
16:49 Aria I know, right?!

17:50 jeffreykegler I've just pushed  a new blog post: "Parsing: a timeline"
17:51 Aria Ooh!
17:51 Aria There's my homeward-bound train reading.
17:53 jeffreykegler It's a kind of history of parsing -- Marpa-centric of course.
17:53 jeffreykegler This kind of post seem to be influential.  For example, if you look at the last sentence of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LALR_parser#Implementation_issues --
17:58 Aria Yep.

17:59 * jeffreykegler is starting to have connection troubles.  The Internet gremlins don't like it when he talks about himself too much. :-)
