02:18 ronsavage1 daxim: See http://savage.net.au/Marpa.html#Imagery
02:31 jeffreykegler The other two figures in the thangka are Milarepa (left) and Gampopa (right) -- the hand to the ear is the traditional iconography for Milarepa who was Marpa's successor
02:33 jeffreykegler Milarepa was a direct student of Marpa's, and became a wandering poet -- he did not really take students or establish a school or do much of anything that was traditional.
02:34 jeffreykegler Gampopa later arrived in the same area and was very traditional -- he's the founder of the lineage as an actual institutional entity.
02:35 jeffreykegler Gampopa reported that before doing so he found Milarepa somewhere in the mountains, received his teachings, and was empowered by Milarepa as his successor.
02:37 jeffreykegler My reason for naming Marpa after this lineage (besides my fascination with these folks) is that, of all the Tibetan saints, Marpa was known as "The Translator".

04:11 jeffreykegler ronsavage: the label for my Marpa website is now "Marpa - Technical Material".
04:13 jeffreykegler Could you change it to "Jeffrey Kegler's own Marpa website (minimal)"?
04:17 lucs jeffreykegler: Um, why "...(minimal)"?
04:18 jeffreykegler lucs: is your point that it's minimality will be obvious once they click through to it?  Or are you driving at something else?
04:19 lucs Oh, I'm just not sure what about it exactly is "minimal".
04:19 jeffreykegler Perhaps there's a better term for it, but I think nobody would call it fancy.
04:19 lucs I guess I think ""Jeffrey Kegler's own Marpa website" is okay.
04:20 jeffreykegler I may be being somewhat defensive.  Gabor Szabo has given me a hard time about not doing enough about my website.
04:21 jeffreykegler ronsavage: lucs may be right.
04:21 jeffreykegler Let's follow his suggestion
04:25 lucs Ron's site seems to be orientated more towards practical Marpa usage, and yours. towards general considerations on parsers.
04:25 lucs Both quite useful.
04:26 jeffreykegler Yes, exactly.
04:37 ronsavage jreffreykegler: Will do.
04:39 ronsavage Although, I object to the (minimal). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
04:40 lucs s/Beauty/Size/ ? :)
04:44 jeffreykegler ronsavage: lucs suggestion was also not do have the "minimal" in the label.
04:44 jeffreykegler So, fine, let's not do it.
04:45 jeffreykegler Just have the label be "Jeffrey Kegler's own Marpa website"
04:47 jeffreykegler On another topic, I have just uploaded Marpa-R2 2.099_000, which documents the new feature set.
04:47 jeffreykegler CPANtesters has been very prompt -- in just a few minutes 40 tests, all OK.
04:48 jeffreykegler As always your testing is appreciated.
04:48 jeffreykegler This is a release candidate -- the next release will be a nice round number 2.100000
04:49 jeffreykegler I still have some catching up to do on Github issues, but I plan to turn to Kollos now.
05:12 ronsavage New Marpa.html uploaded.
05:15 ronsavage Building...
05:30 lucs ( s/Beauty/Relevance/ ? )
05:38 jeffreykegler Good night, all.

19:42 ronsavage Here's something we should push to be awarded to Jeffrey: http://tech-beta.slashdot.org/story/14/11/13/2336236/google-quadruples-am-turing-award-to-1m

19:44 jdurand_ Re http://irclog.perlgeek.de/marpa/2014-11-14#i_9661438 - yes it is - the C library is perfectly ok, do cmake followed by make. The bindings are stalled because I am fed up with SWIG that appears to be a remarquably bloated s/w. I am doing my own interface generator.
20:11 lie_detector is there a target to make and install libmarpa without docs? im running into some texi2dvi problem
20:33 lie_detector nvm

20:58 jeffreykegler lie_detector: re http://irclog.perlgeek.de/marpa/2014-11-14#i_9662351 -- yes there is
20:59 jeffreykegler In the top level Makefile there are separate targets for dist and doc_dist.  The dist/ directory contains an autoconf directory, with configure, etc., and does not contain or require installation of any of the docs.
21:02 jeffreykegler jdurand: re http://irclog.perlgeek.de/marpa/2014-11-14#i_9662237 -- I'm about to do some Lua coding for Kollos and could really use a Lua libmarpa library, even if it is bloated.
21:25 lie_detector jeffreykegler, this is what i used: https://cffi.readthedocs.org/en/release-0.8/ , notice the lua link
21:27 lie_detector so this is for python.. https://github.com/koo5/new_shit/blob/dev/marpa_cffi/marpa_cffi.py
21:34 lie_detector now i see luajit != lua..also..isnt lua supposed to be the language designed *for* interoperatin with c? sorry, i dont know much about it
21:39 jeffreykegler lie_detector: yes, and Libmarpa is in C.  Luajit is 5.1 compatible and we'll be using Lua 5.1.
21:39 jeffreykegler lie_detector: I'm off to lunch now, but I'll look at the link later.  Thanks!

22:39 idiosyncrat lie_detector: re http://irclog.perlgeek.de/marpa/2014-11-14#i_9662899 -- that's for LuaJIT -- there is a Lua/C interface,
22:40 idiosyncrat but I'm being lazy and trying to get Jean-Damien to do the work of using for me. :-)
22:44 lie_detector ok, if anyone wants help with that cffi thing, i can share what little ive learned
