02:32 jeffreykegler ronsavage: Thanks!  I guess this means you got everything working again.
02:40 jeffreykegler rns: I saw http://www.cpantesters.org/cpan/report/07615fb6-92ef-1021-b8e5-db8690647c67 -- do we have a problem?
03:14 jeffreykegler In my PEG blog post, though I am obviously no great fan of PEG, I tried to write it so that it's a useful resource for someone who is using PEG.
03:15 jeffreykegler Certainly the warning about the issues is useful, and unfortunately missing in most introductory write-ups of PEG.
03:15 jeffreykegler And there are pointers to the better articles about PEG.
03:16 jeffreykegler Articles which are also aimed at people who have decided to use PEG.

05:13 ronsavage jk: I was impressed by your PEG blog, since you refrained from overdoing the criticism. It's obviously hard to judge just how explicit one has to be (about PEG's problems) when writing such a doc. I thought though you could have gone a bit further by saying that it was pointless for people to pursue PEG when a completely reliable and robust alternative exists.
05:13 ronsavage No truncation this time!

05:14 jeffreykegler I think that in Roberto's usage PEG is OK -- he doesn't try to use it to do more than regexes ...
05:15 rns jeffreykegler: re http://irclog.perlgeek.de/marpa/2015-03-04#i_10219422 -- yes, I'm looking into it now, found that this commit
05:15 jeffreykegler and Marpa is several times as large as Lua and LPEG combined, so it clearly does not fit in with his agenda of keeping the size of the codebase small
05:15 rns https://github.com/jeffreykegler/libmarpa/commit/d20e84b2af6bbea9d65768579135cf1c4730f607 is to blame.
05:17 jeffreykegler rns: what's the problem with it?
05:33 rns pure syntax -- it somehow produces that error in msvc2010.
05:34 jeffreykegler Perhaps their C compiler uses PEG?
05:34 jeffreykegler :-)
05:38 rns :) and didn't read your blog on PEG. :)
05:39 rns s/didn't read/they didn't read/
05:41 jeffreykegler Should we hold up the release candidate over this?
05:43 jeffreykegler Looking it I realize -- that code is not C89.
05:44 jeffreykegler A declaration follows statements.
05:45 rns yep, I filed a PR with re-arrangement, which passes.
05:46 jeffreykegler I wonder why my compiles didn't catch that?  On Linux I am compiling with -ansi -pedantic, I thought.
05:52 jeffreykegler It did catch it -- ./marpa.w:9727:1: warning: ISO C90 forbids mixed declarations and code [-pedantic]
05:52 jeffreykegler I just was not being watchful.
05:54 jeffreykegler I think I will create a new release candidate.
05:57 rns Yes. I also missed that compiler warning, BTW.
05:58 jeffreykegler This will give Ron Savage time to get his other Marpa tests working :-)
05:59 rns :)
06:23 ronsavage You guys are w-a-y too optimistic.
06:26 jeffreykegler Good night all!  AFK

10:05 jeffreykegler I have uploaded Marpa-R2 2.103_010 to CPAN.
10:06 jeffreykegler It fixes a problem which prevented Libmarpa from compiling with one of the MS Windows compilers, as just discussed on this channel.
10:06 jeffreykegler It is a release candidate.
10:06 jeffreykegler Testing is appreciated!

10:44 Blixtor maybe consider using -pedantic-errors in your build, then the warnings are converted to errors and can no longer slip through the cracks
