00:21 idiosyncrat_ As perhaps lwa & rns have sensed, this is an excellent time to start Marpa::R2 based projects
00:22 idiosyncrat_ I have not announced a transition, but Marpa::R2, which was in quasi-freeze, will probably never get another new features ...
00:23 idiosyncrat_ and so my next announcement of its status will probably call it frozen.
00:23 idiosyncrat_ This is great news for those basing things on it, because it means Marpa::R2 is pretty certain to be stable ...
00:24 idiosyncrat_ the one exception is that sometimes a bug fix is not practical w/o a change in behavior.
00:25 idiosyncrat_ (But Marpa::R2 is also blessedly bug-free)
00:26 idiosyncrat_ Debian has already taken note of Marpa::R2 3.000000, which is the latest version, so it's even possible that you'll have a Debian version which is Debian stable, and fully up to date with the latest interface.

16:23 idiosyncrat_ rns: re http://irclog.perlgeek.de/marpa/2015-08-14#i_11056282 -- good point re libmarpa
16:24 idiosyncrat_ Kollos will contain its own Libmarpa, and effectively will be a fork of it -- Kollos's interfaces will be the only interfaces of this new Libmarpa.
16:24 idiosyncrat_ This means the current Libmarpa is almost certain to get no new features.
16:25 idiosyncrat_ We also seem to have wrung all the bugs out of it -- it's been very stable for months.
16:26 idiosyncrat_ So all in all Libmarpa should be a very stable base for projects.

19:13 lwa idiosyncrat_: Thanks for your input. MarpaX::Grammar::Preprocessor might be a better name. I though of putting "R2" into the name because this preprocessor would be SLIF-specific.
19:14 lwa Since it's a dumb source-level preprocessor rather than a reimplementation of the SLIF, I can't just retarget it to the LUIF when it arrives. But I wouldn't need to, if Marpa's next frontend has a built-in abstraction mechanism.

19:18 lwa This project is way less ambitious than my earlier "MarpaX::Inline" experiment, which is why this preprocessor will actually ship – all that's left to do is finishing the docs. With MarpaX::Inline, I eventually ran into semantic difficulties, since I wanted to get rid of :discard lexemes. Also, LATM got implemented in the SLIF :)
