03:32 ronsavage I'd like to add an FAQ re negation. E.g.: How to match everything except say [a-zA-Z][-a-zA-Z]+. Ideas?
03:56 Idiosyncrat ronsavage: IIRC context-free is not closed under complement.
03:57 Idiosyncrat In practice, it's usually possible to get something close enough to what you want.
03:57 Idiosyncrat But you have to tackle it base by case.
03:57 Idiosyncrat s/base by case/case by case/
04:01 Idiosyncrat With ranks and priorities, Marpa can go beyond context-free, but that means you wind up with the kind of situation that ...
04:02 Idiosyncrat I've criticized in PEG, where you may wind up not knowing exactly what language it is that you are parsing.
04:03 Idiosyncrat Negation may be best tackled by example, and in a blog post before trying to summarize it in the FAQ.
05:29 ronsavage JK: OK. Thanx. I recall this was discussed before, but I did not remember the details. I'm working on code which post-processes the output of parsing, and was wondering if I could get Marpa to do some of this post-processing for me. Sigh. I guess not.
05:39 Idiosyncrat Good night!
