21:43 idiosyncrat_ I touched up the style to make the 2 more independent, at the expense of making the code more verbose.

21:44 idiosyncrat_ I tested the Linux build, but we'll need to see if my changes broke the Windows build.
21:45 idiosyncrat_ The advantage that I see to my refactor is that someone hacking one build logic is less likely to need to worry about his effect on the other platform.
