00:13 idiosyncrat_ rns: I turned on -Wconversion in R3.xs and silenced all warnings on my development box.
00:13 idiosyncrat_ I doubt whether this silences them everywhere -- I think in particular some of the Perl API calls have changed in how they declare their arguments.
00:14 idiosyncrat_ But it's progress. :-)

05:57 rns idiosyncrat: two test logs above are under cygwin, perl 5.22.2, gcc 5.3.0; under windows the results are the same as in the latter.

18:47 rns idiosyncrat: re http://irclog.perlgeek.de/marpa/2016-06-16#i_12679218 -- gladly confirmed -- see the same thing under cygwin and windows.
18:49 JPGainsborough Ive been reading some about this nasty feature on Intel x86 chipsets that embeds a hidden CPU and OS onto the motherboard

19:08 JPGainsborough when you think about it the whole thing is pointless, what Management Engine does should be done by the main OS
19:12 JPGainsborough when all disk access from the Main OS goes through this secret thing, its immune to anything the main OS might do to reload or repair it. Furthermore, since the code run on ME is not on removable media it would be hard to refresh it
19:13 JPGainsborough So if malicious code was in there, it would be impossible to detect or remove it
19:16 JPGainsborough the reason the main OS is safer is you can reinstall it from removable read only memory such as a DVD
19:16 JPGainsborough media rather
