00:51 idiosyncrat_ Listening to this talk, and at this point https://youtu.be/Df5Q4iPBNKM?t=24m27s
00:52 idiosyncrat_ Tom Radcliffe points out there was a bottom in the Perl market 3-5 years ago.
00:53 idiosyncrat_ Ironically, I released the 1st stable version of Marpa perhaps exactly at the Perl's lowest point -- Solstice Day 2011

17:09 harovali hi, what would you call a parser that gets input from another parser in a lazy way , so that each parsing layer can have the parsing information of the upper layers ?

18:04 idiosyncrat_ I just uploaded Marpa-R3-4.001_018
18:05 idiosyncrat_ harovali: no real term, other than layered parsing.
18:05 idiosyncrat_ Though it is how the SLIF works, as pioneering by Andrew Rodland

23:19 ronsavage All tests pass for Marpa-R3-4.001_018.
23:24 harovali idiosyncrat_: thanks!
23:25 harovali idiosyncrat_: what does SLIF stand for?
23:25 idiosyncrat_ ScanLess InterFace
23:25 harovali idiosyncrat_: thanks : )
23:26 idiosyncrat_ Scanless because there's no external scanner, as is needed for yacc.
23:26 harovali idiosyncrat_: yes, I'm getting into the details
23:26 idiosyncrat_ In terms of passing info from upper layers down ...
23:27 idiosyncrat_ A real step forward was going from LTM (longest token matching) to LATM (longest acceptable token matching), where the lexer only looks for those tokens that it know the upper layer will accept.
23:27 harovali after I wrote that question, I thougth that the classic lex/yacc approach is somewhat layered, but in a different sense.
23:28 harovali i get it
23:28 harovali that was Earley's point?
23:42 idiosyncrat_ Earley's point?  Point where?
23:48 harovali idiosyncrat_: sorry, bad wording on my part
