02:40 Cheery idiosyncrat_: here is the blog post: http://boxbase.org/entries/2016/oct/24/marpa-right-recursion/
02:56 jdurand ok thanks - about SLIF implementations, I decided to not copy SLR/XS and use normal features - I got it working with a commpletion event on the L0 -;

03:26 idiosyncrat_ Cheery: really really nice.  I like it.
03:27 idiosyncrat_ On a 1st quick reading I have one suggestion and one request.
03:27 idiosyncrat_ The request is please please please remove the link to the Marpa book.
03:28 idiosyncrat_ In the current state of the Marpa book, I almost decided not to mention to you on this channel that it was out there, it is just such a mess.
03:28 idiosyncrat_ I really really don't want a link to it from a tutorial blog post.
03:28 idiosyncrat_ The suggestion:
03:29 idiosyncrat_ In your example, you use addition, but of course traditionally addition is left-recursive, which might be confusing for the readers.
03:30 idiosyncrat_ Most binary operations are traditionally left-recursive, ...
03:30 idiosyncrat_ but assignment ('=') is traditionally right-recursive;
03:31 idiosyncrat_ and exponentiation ('**' or '^') is traditionally right-recursive.
03:31 idiosyncrat_ Do others have thoughts on this?
03:33 idiosyncrat_ The advantage of using addition is it's a much more familiar operation, but I think the fact that it is not at all familiar in a right-recursive form will confuse the readers.
04:19 jdurand I successfully parse Marpa::R2's metag.bnf using my extended SLIF in C -; things get pretty exciting now: have to write the value and I will have the equivalent of perl's Marpa::R2
04:30 Idiosyncrat jdurand: wonderful -- I've been very much looking forward to your work.
04:42 jdurand I know -; the main add-ons to SLIF will be full regexp support, infinite number of sub-grammars, with :discard support in any of them -, will keep you informed - I am getting closer
04:42 jdurand AFK
05:57 ronsavage jdurand: Sounds goooood.

10:13 Cheery idiosyncrat_: I replaced the link with something I suppose is useful.
10:14 Cheery idiosyncrat_: also replaced addition with exponentiation. 'exp'
