18:03 fortitude assuming I'm not implementing A&H's automata, is there value to doing the NNF grammar rewrite, as opposed to just precomputing nullable non-terminals?
18:03 fortitude (I confess to having read A&H rather lightly)
18:06 idiosyncrat A&H's paper is most valuable (IMHO) for its approach to the handling of nulling and nullable symbols in Earley's.
18:06 idiosyncrat Their NNF rewrite is central to their approach for handling nullables.
18:07 idiosyncrat That's why, even though I decided, based on my statistics with previous Marpa versions, that their automata cause more problems than they solve, I still consider Marpa a parser in the A&H lineage.
