02:48 Topic for #marpa is now Start here: http://savage.net.au/Marpa.html - Pastebin: http://scsys.co.uk:8002/marpa - Jeffrey's Marpa site: http://jeffreykegler.github.io/Marpa-web-site/ - IRC log: http://irclog.perlgeek.de/marpa/today
03:46 idiosyncrat I have just uploaded Marpa-R3-4.001_040.
03:46 idiosyncrat CPANtesters looks good, except for Andreas's sites, which has shown a handful of problems for the past several releases.
03:47 idiosyncrat This release includes a bug fix to the progress reports.
03:47 idiosyncrat These had been misreporting some Earley items.
03:48 idiosyncrat All the problem Earley items were kernel Earley items -- not predictions and completions.
03:48 idiosyncrat And all had at least one proper nullable -- a symbol which was nullable but not nulling -- in other words, a symbol which is sometimes null but not always.
03:49 idiosyncrat Examples of problematic grammars have been added to the test suite as t/progress1.t and t/progress2.t
03:49 idiosyncrat This bug also affect Marpa::R2 -- *R2*.
03:50 idiosyncrat And I am thinking very seriously of backporting this fix, which means a new release of Marpa::R2.
03:50 idiosyncrat If that happens, I will catch up with the bug list in Marpa::R2.
03:51 idiosyncrat Marpa::R2 is stable, so fixes will only be for bugs -- no new features, and no corrections of misfeatures.
03:52 idiosyncrat But since they are piggy-backing on a more serious problem, minor bug fixes, which would not otherwise have seen the light of day, will be made part of this release.
03:52 idiosyncrat ===
03:53 idiosyncrat By the way, this bug is so obscure that nobody noticed it in use -- most interest is in completed Earley items, so apparently nobody ran into this issue.
03:54 idiosyncrat I didn't notice it until I read that section of the Libmarpa code with Marpa::R3 and better lexing in mind.
03:54 idiosyncrat While reading, I wondered how certain corner cases were dealt with, and it turned out there were not.

16:17 idiosyncrat No, the fix is in Libmarpa.  A Libmarpa fix requires a new Marpa::R2 release.
