15:11 apeiron sri, heh. computer vision is getting to be pretty solid these days. Dunno how long something like that will work. :)
15:23 Ranguard bloody computer scientists and their algorithums and AI machines, Skynet is just around the corner I tell you :)
15:24 Ranguard eek: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skynet_(satellite) !!
15:45 sri can always upgrade to other cute animals once kitten detection technology gets too strong
15:50 sri or trick questions like how many of these kittens are actually cute
15:51 * marcus answers none, gets blocked
15:54 apeiron ceci n'est pas deux chatons?
15:54 apeiron or maybe ce
15:54 garu there was a hotcaptcha once, that would give you mugshots of ~10 people and ask you to pick the 3 hottest (based on the hotornot service). It was quite effective :)
15:54 apeiron French is weird.
15:54 garu (sadly, not for blind people)
15:55 apeiron garu, so you'd have to go look them all up on the site?
15:55 garu of course not. You'd just be honest
15:56 garu my guess is they picked 3 mugshots with a 9+ score, and mixed them with 7 mugshots of 4- score
15:56 garu it was really obvious
15:57 apeiron what if my tastes are different?
15:58 garu that's why they went for the extremes. You might even like the others, but common sense prevailed
15:59 garu another easy to set up would be a "cat or dog" captcha (that could even work for blind people, doing cat/dog sounds)
16:21 perigrin what about showing people a failing test report from CPANTESTERS and if they can provide a patch to fix the fail they can vote.
16:21 perigrin ?
16:22 * perigrin volunteers his own modules
16:24 oalders how about we revert to the "must have PAUSE id" requirement, but with a caveat
16:24 oalders you must have had your account for at least x months
16:24 oalders and you must have uploaded at least 1 module
16:25 oalders the concern about the ids is that people were requesting them specifically for ++
16:25 perigrin I wouldn't even do the x months ... just uploaded at least 1 module.
16:25 mattp then people will just lie about their intentions :)
16:25 oalders yeah, that's what i thought
16:25 oalders and forcing a delay should end some of the silliness
16:25 oalders and wouldn't create an extra burden for approving new ids
16:25 perigrin true
16:26 oalders so, i would think that should take care of the concerns xdg expressed
16:26 mattp i think renaming ++ as tagging, letting us look at which id is mapped to which vote, and being able to see all votes for an id makes the most longterm sense
16:26 oalders if anyone without an id still wants to ++, they could fork/pull and solve the problem with something more sophisticated
16:28 mattp theres no particular reason i can think of that votes should be anonymous. it can even replace Task::BeLike::
16:28 oalders mattp: i think you do that without calling this tagging
16:29 oalders longterm, you could probably just think of ++ as a special tag
16:29 oalders just need someone to do the work :)

20:58 * mst really hates the BeLike task things
20:58 mst I have completely different profiles of commonly used modules depending on what I'm doing
21:09 rafl that's ok. Task::BeLike::MSTROUT can have arbitrarily many subnamespaces
21:10 mattp haha
21:21 mst or I could just not do that.
21:22 mst anyway, I don't want people to be like me. I'm an ass and the supply of cute women is limited.

21:42 * apeiron would take 'productive' over 'nice' any day of the week, so long as it's not mlehmann level
21:46 * marcus just noticed Mojolicious had 122 releases this year.
21:49 marcus most released modules of 2011, anyone? :) should be possible with the metacpan api?
