01:55 omega when something is on backpan, but not on metacpan, that means the author deleted it?
01:55 omega (Clone::Fast in this case)
02:14 oalders omega: correct
02:26 omega next question, could the dependecy list show "dead links" (ie, deleted dists)?
02:26 omega https://metacpan.org/release/Catalyst-Plugin-Server depends on Clone::Fast for instance

02:36 omega the data isn't in release.dependency at least :/
02:37 omega and I assume asking the WS for each dist isn't a great idea :P
02:55 omega and I guess having that info indexed would also be hard, since when something gets deleted, you would have to re-index everything that stored relationships to the deleted dist as well?

03:42 oalders omega: good question. essentially web site is just telling you what the declared dependencies are.  it doesn't do any actual validation before providing the links
03:43 oalders so, yes, if something gets moved to backpan in the meantime, there will be dead links
03:43 omega mhm
03:44 oalders however, you could open an issue for this.  we could, for example, at the module page provide a message that says "you can find the backpanned module here"
03:44 oalders that would be way more helpful than the 404
