04:56 genehack hi - any idea why https://metacpan.org/release/HiD is showing an unathorized release?

08:11 shmuel anyone active?
08:11 dpetrov_ :)
08:11 dpetrov_ all of us
08:11 shmuel :)
08:11 ranguard naa, I'm not at all
08:12 shmuel I'm refactoring some code that I didn't write
08:12 shmuel and it have a call to http://api.metacpan.org/v0/file
08:12 shmuel with query->filter
08:13 shmuel it should be a filter on the module version inside a specific file
08:14 shmuel now in one place it uses "version", and in other place it uses "file.module.version"
08:14 shmuel which is the right one?
08:14 ranguard beyond my knowledge - sorry
08:15 shmuel I incline towards the second one, as it comes from a more tested part of the program
08:15 shmuel thanks ranguard :)
08:17 ranguard mo oalders rwstauner ^^ any of you guys around?
08:19 neilb joined #metacpan
08:28 shmuel maybe it was intentional, (the first on is the fallback version)
08:28 shmuel so at first trying the specific file, and in the fallback, if the specific file
08:29 shmuel does not contain this version, looks on the release version
08:29 shmuel makes sense?
08:29 dipsy makes sense is probably http://xrl.us/bjq3kq

08:43 dpetrov_ shmuel: shouldn't that be file.release.version for the release version?
08:43 mo shmuel: file.version is the version of the release
08:44 mo while file.module.version is the version of the package defined in that file
08:44 mo also, one file can have multiple packages with different versions each
08:46 shmuel mo: thanks.
08:47 shmuel so by filtering by file.module.version
08:47 shmuel I ask a file that at least one of his packages is versioned by that version?
08:48 mo yes
08:49 mo but you probably will always want to use version_numified
08:49 shmuel and "version" equal "file.version"?
08:49 mo for search
08:49 mo should be
08:49 shmuel I use the regular or numified
08:50 mo you should use numified, unless you know what you are doing :)
08:50 shmuel timebrunce wrote a long comment why we should use both
08:50 shmuel *timbunce
08:50 mo … as long as you know what you are doing :)
08:50 shmuel oh, I see that he talked with you.
08:51 shmuel and you said: yes, I already patched the indexer, so new releases are already indexed ok, but for older ones I need to reindex cpan
08:51 mo hm how long ago is that?
08:51 mo we might have done a reindex since then
08:52 shmuel it is part of Dist::Surveyor
08:52 shmuel more then a year ago, probably less then two.
08:53 shmuel I'm refactoring the heck out of that module
08:53 mo ok, should've been fixed by now then
08:54 mo shmuel: just let us know when you are done refactoring and we can have a look at it
08:54 shmuel and by "us" you refer to?
08:56 shmuel I'd love to get some queries optimization advice too.
08:57 shmuel I don't really familiar with who-is-who behind metacpan
09:00 shmuel btw, the full comment is in https://github.com/semuel/Dist-Surveyor/blob/master/lib/Dist/Surveyor/Inquiry.pm, line 244

09:04 shmuel now I need to think where to save this email... :-)

12:58 genehack any ideas on https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/issues/868 ?
12:58 dipsy [ Unauthorized release of 'HiD' dist doesn't show as unauthorized; appears first in search results · Issue #868 · CPAN-API/metacpan-web · GitHub ]
13:00 genehack may be the same issue as https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/issues/645 but it's not clear why that one was closed

15:32 rwstauner atm i have none... i haven't looked into the authorized stuff much yet
15:35 oalders i think mo is probably the best person to troubleshoot that one
16:08 genehack apparently the person who did the un-auth'd releases added a new module, so there is one module in the dist that _is_ authorized.
16:08 genehack not sure if that's involved in the behavior, but...
16:13 daxim chinaxing is often online in this network, most active in #dbix-class, but not right now
