01:37 rjbs Heyo!
01:37 rjbs You guys still use CPAN::Faker in tests?
01:42 rjbs rwstauner: So, in my big review of outstanding stuff, I now see your #3 and #2 against Module-Faker.
01:45 rjbs but I just got a similar one, from xdg
01:45 rjbs Let me know how things work for you on https://github.com/rjbs/Module-Faker/tree/topic/meta-json
01:45 dipsy [ rjbs/Module-Faker · GitHub ]
01:50 rwstauner ooh
01:53 rwstauner i think i've managed to get by previously by just stuffing everything into "append"
01:54 rjbs rwstauner: If you can give that branch a +1, I'll ship it ASAP.
01:54 rwstauner ok.  i'm sure xdg's code is better than mine
01:56 rwstauner yeah, looks like he was more daring to fix things then just squeeze in some extras ;-)
01:56 rjbs If it is better, good thing he sent it in now.  In a week or two I'd be at the Mo's in my alphabetical run through bug queues!
01:56 rwstauner :-)
01:57 rwstauner i don't have time to play with it now, but it certainly looks good, and i imagine it covered my cases
01:57 rwstauner so if you want to merge and release that, close my other two
01:58 rwstauner and if i ever notice anything i'll open another
02:00 rjbs Sure you don't want me to wait a day or two so you can run your tests?
02:02 rwstauner i can't tonight but i could in the morning
02:02 rwstauner in which case i guess i could close those tickets myself
02:10 rjbs Okay, it can wait.
02:10 rjbs Thanks!

13:22 tobyink Am I correct in saying that the right-hand panel on a release page which lists the person doing the release, and lists people from META.json 'x_contributors', does not list people from META.json 'author'?

13:53 leont Guys, this does not look ok: https://metacpan.org/release/Perl-Tidy-Sweetened
13:53 dipsy [ Perl-Tidy-Sweetened-0.21 - Tweaks to Perl::Tidy to support some syntactic sugar - metacpan.org - Perl programming language ]
13:54 leont When looking for any of those packages, this dist will show up as first or second hit, despite them unauthorized
14:00 ranguard leont: ticket please - then menion on here again - thanks
14:04 ilmari_ leont: the dist ships a local::lib in .local-v5.14/
14:04 leont ilmari_: yeah, I had spotted that
14:09 ranguard so I guess contact the author as well :)
14:09 dolmen joined #metacpan
14:13 ilmari_ I thought explicit "provides" in META.json was meant to inhibit automatic searching for things to index?
14:15 leont Yeah, the provides field is correct
14:15 ilmari_ yeah, hence my question
14:16 leont Also, sco seems to display it correctly
14:19 * ranguard really wishes there were more people able to help with fixing these issues
14:35 oalders i see tobyink is gone, but the code in question is at https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/blob/master/lib/MetaCPAN/Web/Controller/Release.pm#L121

14:55 rwstauner for tobyink's question, also: https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/issues/940
14:55 dipsy [ author information on dist page should more accurately reflect the actual author · Issue #940 · CPAN-API/metacpan-web · GitHub ]
14:56 oalders ah, right
14:58 rwstauner interesting observation: on that bad perl-tidy-sweetened release, the api shows "provides" correctly
15:06 leont Yup, that's what makes it so puzzling
15:07 oalders well, they're all listed under "documentation", which won't be looking at provides, i guess
15:08 rwstauner right
15:09 leont Documentation is separate from normal indexing
15:10 rwstauner the files (modules) are all listed under the release (in the api)
15:10 rwstauner File::Which for example, says authored: true
15:10 rwstauner and indexed: true
15:11 rwstauner i think "indexed" is supposed to mean !"meta no_index"
15:11 rwstauner but i'm assuming authorized should be false

15:12 rwstauner why it's not is a part of the code i haven't really gotten into yet

18:03 alh Is test counting/output broken on metacpan?
18:03 alh I'm not seeing new modules get updated
18:04 alh https://metacpan.org/module/Devel::GDB::Breakpoint for example

20:25 oalders alh: you're the first to mention it. worthy of an open issue against cpan-api, i would think
20:26 rjbs rwstauner: Did you get to test that?
20:30 rwstauner rjbs: yeah, it broke a few of our tests
20:30 rjbs o no
20:31 rwstauner i think it's not major...
20:31 rwstauner but i had put in my own META.json using the "append" method
20:31 rwstauner and now that META.json is generated it completely ignores the content i had
20:32 rwstauner so as long as i can merge content into the META.json that gets generated (or overwrite it) that would be sufficent
20:32 rwstauner unfortunately i just don't have the time right now to make a branch on either project
20:33 rjbs Okay.  Sounds like I don't need to be too concerned, though.
20:33 rjbs I'll give you a heads-up when things are moving forward.  xdg says he may need to do some fixups before it gets reelased.
20:35 rwstauner ok
20:36 rwstauner i'll have more time after the ides of Oct
20:37 rwstauner but if you or xdg want to add a test for merging extra metadata into the META.json that gets produced, that would be awesome and would cover our test cases
20:38 rwstauner or if it's still outstanding i can pitch in later this month
