00:00 mst oalders: are you still around?
00:00 mst oalders: that file appears to be handling RECENT-* files, I was asking about the PAUSe index
01:56 oalders mst: sorry, thought you meant 02packages
01:56 mst I did
01:56 mst and that file doesn't reference it at all
01:57 mst aha, Latest.pm does
01:57 mst oalders: ok, lemme step back a moment
01:58 mst basically what I'm asking is "do you have a history of the contents of 02packages, or are you losing that historical data?"
01:59 oalders we're just going with the latest version at any point
01:59 oalders so, losing historical data
01:59 * mst sighs
01:59 mst not sighing at you.
01:59 oalders is it not in git on the PAUSE end?
01:59 mst sighing at the fact that this means the only bloody historical record of this data is inside the search.cpan.org database
02:00 oalders i thought there was some work at the QA hackathon in Paris to save changes to git
02:00 mst no, there's no record kept. that's why when you were first setting this stuff up I mentioned snapshotting it, but it was a long time ago and I forgot to check back in and find out if you'd done it
02:00 mst er, which paris?
02:00 oalders the most recent paris
02:00 mst maybe I need to read the current pause code
02:01 oalders mst: http://rjbs.manxome.org/rubric/entry/1948
02:01 dipsy [ rjbs's rubric: how I spent my Perl QA Hackathon ]
02:03 ether you could get there approximately by looking at the upload log and then replaying that against the indexing code, but that doesn't account for changes to that code over time.
02:03 ether (plus other events like forced-reindexing etc)
02:04 ether mst: are you thinking of doing anything specific with the historical data?
02:04 mst oalders: HELL YEAH
02:05 mst oalders: that's definitely since I looked into pause last
02:05 mst oalders: thanks
02:05 oalders :)
02:05 oalders i'm not sure how to get access to that data, but maybe you do
02:10 mst ether: yes, yes I am.
02:15 mst oalders: I don't ... yet ... but that should change reasonably shortly :)
