00:37 sivoais is it possible to do a suffix search with the MetaCPAN API. I'm trying to find all file names that end with .xs or .c
00:37 sivoais for this <https://github.com/Perl-XS/notes/pull/3>
00:37 dipsy [ add links for searching CPAN for XS related code by zmughal · Pull Request #3 · Perl-XS/notes · GitHub ]
01:08 trs sivoais: short answer, no.  the file.name field isn't analyzed.

01:52 dipsy urgh. long url. Try http://tinyurl.com/o2gpom3

01:53 dipsy rwstauner: Thanks!
01:56 sivoais rwstauner: ah, nice, thanks. Much cleaner
01:56 rwstauner np
01:57 rwstauner i thought it might be more complicated, but text/x-c seems to include .c .xs and .h
01:57 rwstauner so, nice and simple
01:57 rwstauner :-)
01:57 rwstauner i commented on that gh issue with the link, too
01:58 sivoais yeah, I'll modify my query
01:59 trs rwstauner++ # clever clever :)
01:59 rwstauner :-)
01:59 trs totally forgot about mime type
01:59 rwstauner i looked at the facet for mime... there are a lot
01:59 rwstauner but i managed to find the one i wanted ;-)

02:47 sivoais in case you want to see the diff between the ppport.h query and the MIME type query <https://gist.github.com/zmughal/8016219>

05:23 * trs finds unified diffs of sorted lists like that really hard to read
05:24 * trs ... and so he uses variations on this to see the differences more easily: http://tsibley.net/paste/2013-12-17cgciQIFM-merge-compare
05:25 trs for bonus points make sure to export LESS=SRFX
05:35 trs sivoais: I haven't seen the queries themselves, but both seem to miss legitimate XS/C code
05:40 sivoais let me get you the queries

05:44 dipsy [ XS on MetaCPAN ]
05:46 sivoais perhaps the size needs to be increased / I need to use the scrolled search to get everything
06:15 trs yes, you are missing a lot.

06:26 sivoais Well, my reasoning behind making this kind of query is to find distributions that may be similar to a given XS task. I guess that output isn't very good to look at.

15:29 rwstauner sivoais: changing the "size" inside the facet to 4000 gave me all of them and didn't take long to return
15:29 rwstauner 3000 wasn't enough :-)

20:56 trs I believe the general size limit is 5000 for metacpan?
20:57 trs not sure if that applies to facets, or just actual results

21:18 oalders i never was able to get the ES port mappings to work
21:18 oalders but adding nginx is a good idea
22:31 trs virtualbox's networking support is really crappy, in my experience.
22:32 trs it may be better since I last used it in anger.
22:34 oalders in this case it may just be the ES configuration, though, since everything else seems fine
22:34 trs ah :)
22:34 trs does ES bind to the correct interface?
22:35 trs (inside the vm)
22:35 oalders that's a good question. i didn't spend a lot of time on it.  i thought it would "just work" :)
22:36 trs :)
22:37 trs it may only bind to the loopback interface or bind to any interface but come up too early before the outside interface is up.
22:37 trs I haven't used the metacpan vm, so I can't test it quickly right now.
22:40 oalders i wanted to test it now by my VirtualBox is telling me a kernel driver is not installed
22:43 trs weeee
22:51 oalders so, i think it is an issue with ES. you get "Empty reply from server" via curl
22:51 oalders rather than just a refused connection
