12:41 oalders i'm getting a 200 for http://cpan.metacpan.org/authors/id/D/DR/DROLSKY/Params-Validate-1.08.tar.gz right now
12:42 ribasushi oalders: it did work right after, it's an intermittent thing
12:42 ribasushi oalders: just figured I'll share it if anyone is interested (I've seen things like this before, never bothered to capture it though)
12:42 oalders ribasushi: ok. good to know. haven't actually seen this before
12:43 ribasushi oalders: I use the metacpan mirror exclusively on travis (it gives me backpan access where I need it) and I see it once per month or so
12:43 oalders ribasushi: might be worth opening an issue then, so somebody can look at the logs
12:44 ribasushi oalders: which issue-queue?
12:47 oalders ribasushi: i think metacpan-web is fine. there's no queue specific cpan.metacpan.org
12:51 ribasushi https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/issues/1030

13:25 ranguard oalders: if you login to fastly and look at the 'stats' there does seem to be a few spikes on the 'errors' report towards the bottom (filter on cpan.mc service first)
13:27 ranguard but they are spikes rather than constant
13:27 ranguard (for those at home, data on this report is by day)
13:28 ranguard so guessing server based issue - can't look now will try tonight
13:29 oalders ah, so this could be an issue with fastly
13:29 oalders hadn't considered that
13:30 ranguard could be - but wouldn't have thought so as we've not changed anything on there
13:30 ranguard and at the moment fastly is configured to just pass everything back and forth - no caching on their servers
13:31 oalders there's also this https://twitter.com/vtivti/status/419003468201091073
13:31 dipsy [ Twitter / vtivti: @wundercounter did you ban ... ]
13:31 oalders so, there may be an issue beyond static content
13:31 oalders i'm off to my dentist. will check back on this later
13:32 * ranguard assumed prelresume.org is trying to access the api - which isn't going through fastly at the moment, so that would point to our server having an issue

13:58 ribasushi will I be severely hated if I keep filing issues that can be considered wishlists?
13:58 * ribasushi finds the prospect of adding anything to a public-wiki an insurmountable challenge (I am that allergic to them ;)
14:00 ranguard ribasushi: no - but I will move them to the wishlist wiki :)
14:01 ribasushi oh, I have no problem with *that*
14:01 ribasushi I just firmly believe that wikis are where information goes to die, hence have a hard time writing something on my own there
14:02 * ranguard isn't 100% about the wiki either, but I am 100% the issue list needs to be kept to actual bugs or things being worked on by someone
14:03 ranguard if we have 100 active contributors then things might be different :)
14:03 leont wikis can work, specially if the alternative is information is stuck in people's head
14:03 leont but they're not the magical solution that some people expect them to be
18:20 ether I'm not sure how we should add items to the wiki. all the existing things link to the github issues page, which is where the discussion lives. Should new wishlist items also get issues (which are immediately closed?), or should the discussion occur on the wiki itself? if so, how?
18:20 ether the root problem is really ENOTENOUGHDEVELOPERS
18:33 ranguard ether: https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md <- was the idea
18:33 dipsy [ metacpan-web/CONTRIBUTING.md at master · CPAN-API/metacpan-web · GitHub ]
18:34 ranguard the existing stuff is from me having reviewed every issue ticket
18:58 ether ranguard: ah, brilliant!
18:58 ether and ++
21:24 ribasushi oalders: also answered on the 503 issue in case you didn't see it
21:24 ribasushi damned russian crapware :D
21:31 oalders ribasushi: i didn't get a notification, but i see it now
21:31 oalders i keep forgetting about fastly
21:31 ranguard I've _just_ commented my self
21:31 oalders that doesn't make tracking IPs in the log file very useful
21:32 * ether
21:33 ether whoops wrong window
21:33 ranguard wtf was that... * ether ?
21:33 * ilmari
21:33 ilmari /me
21:33 * ranguard
21:33 * ranguard grins
21:33 ranguard oh, doh :)
21:34 ether yeah, typing /me into a window where it means something totally different :)
21:35 ether in my mud client, /me goes to the messages pane, which is where my email notifications show up
21:35 ranguard ahh, 'muds' - the good old days :)
21:35 ether <-- old fogey
21:36 ether on one of my muds, I'm still known as the newbie
21:36 ether because I didn't join until 1994
21:36 ilmari 20 years? that's nothing!
21:36 * ranguard pops onto nanvaent to see if it says when he joined
21:36 ether it's really frightening, isn't it :)
21:36 ether when you're 19, everyone else being 23 or 24 was a huge age gap
21:36 * ilmari has only had internet access for <19 years
21:37 ilmari dad got a modem from work for his 50th birthday
21:37 ilmari in 1995
21:37 ether the conversation topics used to be Magic the Gathering trading, and who had a hot date at the last frat party, and cool unix tricks
21:38 ether nowadays it's discussions of kids' ballet recitals, and football games, and cool unix tricks
21:39 ether speaking of which, I can get folks a good deal on unopened Fallen Empires box sets... ;)
21:39 ranguard yea, it was ~20 years ago I signed up
21:39 ranguard Ahh.. so young: http://www.nanvaent.org/people/ranguard/ - scary!
21:39 dipsy [ Nanvaent People: Ranguard ]
21:40 ilmari "photo's"?!
21:41 ranguard we was on the cutting edge of the internet :)
