01:38 jibsheet oalders: is there a UI way to know why the distname/version is red other than 'use the explorer to see that it's unauth or backpan or something else'?
02:11 trs there should be, but no, currently the colors are mystery meat
02:12 trs I opened a ticket for this, but it was closed as "already on the wishlist"
02:18 jibsheet *nod*

06:08 oalders in order to do that, it's helpful to have 06perms indexed.   i've just pushed a branch that does that
06:08 oalders so, we're closer to getting that info out there

07:02 kentnl afrgthg. Am I the only one who finds elasticsearch.org's current design _absolutely useless_
07:02 kentnl I used to be able to find the api docs quite easily
07:03 kentnl Now I can't find anything other than marketing
07:04 kentnl oh. Look harder I guess. Either way, nothing about "resources" speaks to me as a coder, and that page gives me the impression "Here, this page has useless videos on it"

11:55 ranguard yea, there are too many videos on there
11:55 ranguard clinton is writing a book... but he's only about 1/3 the way through :(

11:58 kentnl and it really impedes my reading with the API docs once I get there with one-page-per-function. I can't even tell what I'm looking for, let alone know where to find it -_-
11:59 * kentnl is trying to search for   releases where  archive doesn't match a prefix of $name . '-' . $version
12:00 kentnl because that specific case causes issues in cpanm-reporter when $name or $version don't match the path/name of the tarball, because ...
12:00 kentnl cpanm logs one before extracting, and logs the other when building/testing/installing.

12:20 dipsy [ statistics-discrete - - metacpan.org ]
12:36 kentnl tobyink: ty, good example, no version, any examples where $name doesn't even match?
12:37 tobyink Here's one where there is no $name... https://metacpan.org/release/PLOCKABY/v1.0.0
12:37 dipsy [ v1.0.0 - Thread-safe queues with priorities - metacpan.org ]
12:38 tobyink I'm pretty sure I've seen one or two where the name was a case-insensitive match.
12:38 kentnl though, hmm, thats weird, the file on the cpan mirrors has the tar.gz corrected somehow, I'm not sure how
12:39 tobyink it was re-uploaded with the correct name a few minutes later
12:39 kentnl ah. That'll be why then.
12:40 kentnl oh wow, that is really fun, thats a great example of things that will really bust cpanm-reporter
12:41 kentnl Entering perl-thread-queue-priority-1.0.0 # <-- wow
12:41 kentnl 3 different names.

18:29 haarg kentnl: perl-thread-queue-priority is the repo, 1.0.0 is the tag.  github gives you tarballs from a url that looks like github.com/something/tagname
18:29 haarg but includes a content disposition header to set the filename to repo-tag.tar.gz
18:30 kentnl haarg: yeah, its not so much a question for me as "how it came to be", its a question of "is this a thing cpanm will install, and thus, emit reports, and thus, emit reports that are inconsistent enough to confuse cpanm-reporters parsing"
18:31 kentnl https://github.com/garu/App-cpanminus-reporter/issues/11
18:31 dipsy [ Bug when cpanm reports string missmatches between phases · Issue #11 · garu/App-cpanminus-reporter · GitHub ]
18:31 haarg pause doesn't care what the filename is as long as it's unique
18:32 haarg well, didn't
18:32 kentnl ( because cpanm-reporter currently assumes the same token will be used in all 3 places which is woefully wrong ;) )
18:32 haarg so it would get indexed just like anything else and cpanm would install it
18:32 haarg pause is being (has been?) changed though
18:33 haarg so that if the dist name doesn't correspond to a module the author has permissions on, it won't index it

19:09 kentnl hm. Idle thought. I was a moron earlier today, was looking around for the depgraph ... and I was seeing [Reverse dependencies] and [CPAN Testers list] <-- for some reason I saw that as "Something about CPAN Testing, but nothing about dependencies" and glossed over that.
19:12 nado oalders: rwstauner i think i can fix this one: https://github.com/CPAN-API/cpan-api/issues/272

19:13 nado i'm just having troubles with stating ES locally
19:17 rwstauner nado: do you have the VM running?
19:18 nado rwstauner: yes, and i started both web and api servers
19:19 rwstauner did you try 'sudo service elasticsearch start'?
19:19 rwstauner if so, was there any output?
19:20 rwstauner (sorry that i'm slow to respond, i'm on the phone with work)
19:32 nado rwstauner: I don't have an access to my machine right now. But I think I'll handle ES tomorrow. I just wanted to ask what should I do with patch when I have it tested. Should I submit a pull request?
19:33 rwstauner certainly!
19:33 rwstauner :-)
19:33 rwstauner if you get an error message or something about why ES won't start, let us know what it says so we can figure it out
19:34 nado ok
19:35 nado And what about an application. should I show you to you first?
19:46 nado rwstauner: ^
19:48 rwstauner probably... i'm new at this program, so that's probably a better question for oalders but definitely feel free to show/discuss with us
19:48 rwstauner i'm still trying to go through some of the emails to learn more about the program :-)
19:54 nado :)
