10:04 ribasushi o/
10:05 ribasushi a while ago (2012) rafl was working on extracting all of cpan into a git repo
10:05 ribasushi did this ever get anywhere?
10:05 ribasushi (I know it partially overlapped with the metacpan extractor)
10:25 b_jonas that would be huge...
10:25 b_jonas why would you want that?
10:26 b_jonas I mean, the git repo would be unusable because with git you can't clone just parts of the repo
10:29 ribasushi b_jonas: if one stupidly organizes everything in a single tree - yes it would be unusable
10:30 ribasushi b_jonas: in any case - there is a reason I want that, which is not particularly applicable here ;)
10:31 b_jonas ribasushi: how about a subversion repo?
10:32 b_jonas anyone can partial check out that
10:32 ribasushi ...
10:33 b_jonas you can say it'd be hard to remove stuff deleted from cpan (moved to backpan) from that
10:34 ribasushi b_jonas: I just asked a question, I am not looking for actual advice for the thing I want to build, given I am not even entirely sure what it is
10:34 b_jonas sorry

15:27 Ralesk hmm, peculiar: https://metacpan.org/author/MOZNION the row of Acme-AjiFry has some mojibake in it, whereas going to https://metacpan.org/release/Acme-AjiFry displays that unicode string correctly.

17:01 ranguard ribasushi: didn't get implimented on live afaik, I'd suggest you ask rafl :)
17:01 ranguard there was very good reason for it, but I can't remember it now

17:29 ether ribasushi: I thought that was schwern, and that was longer ago than 2012
17:29 ether gitpan has been abandoned since ~2010
17:41 ranguard ether: ralf had some cunning plan for metacpan specifically, really wish I could remember it!

18:20 SineSwiper how do I do queries like "date:[$year TO 2099]" in MetaCPAN::Client?
18:36 SineSwiper hmmm... $mcpan->module({ DUMMY => 1 }, \%search_params); where %search_params includes a 'body' hash from ElasticSearch::SearchBuilder
18:41 SineSwiper too bad ES:SB doesn't produce blessed objects that MetaCPAN::Client::Request could detect

22:13 SineSwiper how can I get sort to work?  Even with a put a 'sort' key in the body, it just plain does not work
22:14 SineSwiper sigh, the default search type is scan
23:33 SineSwiper okay, so I've made some progress on this API->Client conversion
23:34 SineSwiper unfortunately, I finally realized that MetaCPAN::Client::Request isn't bothering with the UA for ssearch queries, so nothing is cached
23:35 SineSwiper does Search::Elasticsearch have any sort of caching capabilities, or something to hook into a cacheing UA?
