19:32 kentnl Something weird appears to have happened with indexing here: https://metacpan.org/release/FindBin-libs , but I'm not sure if its caused by the weird version number bug , but https://metacpan.org/release/LEMBARK/FindBin-libs-2.00 exists, as does predecessors since 2003
19:32 dipsy [ FindBin-libs-2.00 - locate and a 'use lib' or export directories based on $FindBin::Bin. - metacpan.org ]
19:46 ether kentnl: iirc, the upload was botched somehow.
19:46 ether it came up on hte modules list
19:50 ether see also https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=97439
19:50 dipsy [ Bug #97439 for FindBin-libs: Re: Fwd: FindBin::libs isn't indexed, Test-BDD-Cucumber needs it to test ]
19:54 kentnl Only reason I noticed is because of this long-standing bug: https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=83219
19:54 dipsy [ Bug #83219 for FindBin-libs: 1.65.1 is logically < 1.64 in perl version logic. ]
19:59 kentnl Time to wait for the indexer to actually fire I guess
19:59 mst I was going to wait until tomorrow in case it's some oddity with PAUSE and cpan syncing or whatever
20:03 mst kentnl: remind me tomorrow, I'll re-open 97439
20:03 kentnl though the metacpan watcher does appear to have died again: Moving Net-FullAuto-0.9999999967 to BackPAN # x several hundred times
20:21 oalders the watcher _is_ running
20:23 oalders i restarted it, though
20:36 ether vincent growled at me for suggesting that that dist (Net-FullAuto) was crazy
20:36 ether *look at its Makefile.PL*
20:50 * kentnl would give it that brand just due to https://metacpan.org/feed/distribution/Net-FullAuto
20:52 kentnl I guess the Author is not insane, their other dists meet SVO Sanity.
20:53 FROGGS_ wow, the internet in a single Makefile.PL :D
20:54 FROGGS_ though, it really looks like it checks *everything* and also provides useful hints to solve issues
20:56 ether he's going to run out of digits again soon too
20:56 ether time to add another 99 to the version and start all over
21:07 kentnl And then somewhere around there he'll break the limits on floating point precision and it might become funny ;)
21:09 kentnl he's using a string so it should be fine, but I can always have wishful thinking
21:18 ether :D
21:19 ether if the version is being compared with < instead of lt, wouldn't it numify first?
21:19 jibsheet I decided not to go read version.pm to see what it would do
21:22 kentnl ether: well, if you use version.pm to parse it first from a string, it will be fine
21:23 ether jibsheet++
21:26 kentnl perl -E 'my $x = 0.999999999967; say for $x, version->parse($x), version->parse("$x")'
21:27 trs he may beat ribasushi in Makefile.PL size
21:33 kentnl weirdly, leaving it as a number doesn't seem to pose a problem yet, ... but it is if version.pm touches it.
21:34 kentnl perl -MData::Dumper -E 'BEGIN { our  $VERSION = 0.999999999967; $INC{q[main.pm]} = 1; } say for main->VERSION <=> 1, $main::VERSION <=> 1
21:34 kentnl its like some perverted kind of comedy I don't quite understand
21:37 * kentnl might be getting the benefit of larger floats here probably, and suspects v.pm just does things like that so its broken the same way everywhere
21:43 kentnl great: "FindBin-libs consists of 0 modules"
21:44 kentnl oh. I see. What the actual fuck.
21:44 kentnl FindBin::libs is in libs_curr.pm
21:44 kentnl ...
21:46 kentnl magically installs one based on $^V in Makefile.PL, no provides map, and 2 distinct files with the same "package " statement.
21:51 kentnl https://metacpan.org/source/LEMBARK/FindBin-libs-2.00/lib/FindBin/libs_curr.pm#L92
21:51 dipsy [ lib/FindBin/libs_curr.pm - metacpan.org ]
21:51 kentnl https://metacpan.org/source/LEMBARK/FindBin-libs-2.00/lib/FindBin/libs_old.pm#L95
21:51 dipsy [ lib/FindBin/libs_old.pm - metacpan.org ]
21:51 kentnl ... that's not going to work
21:52 kentnl mst: I think you're going to have to explain this one, my brain is going "thats so fucked up I don't have words for it" and I think he needs to give PAUSE a provides => entry in META.json to make any kind of sense.
21:58 ether URLs for recent releases aren't resolving
22:00 kentnl ether: ?
22:00 dipsy ether:  is there a mostly-agreed-upon replacement for more transparent semantics
22:02 ether e.g. https://metacpan.org/release/TSIBLEY/Test-Deep-DateTime-RFC3339-0.01
22:02 dipsy [ Test-Deep-DateTime-RFC3339-0.01 - Test RFC3339 timestamps are within a certain tolerance - metacpan.org ]
22:02 ether ..except it works now.
22:03 ether nm :)
22:03 ether trs++ # moar Test::Deep
22:03 haarg where did the link come from when you saw it not work?
22:06 ether the usual gumbybrain announcements
22:06 ether on #cpantesters
22:08 haarg pretty sure that just generates the expected URL, but gets the information faster than metacpan gets things indexed
22:08 kentnl ^ I've seen things like that happen before too, but twitter side
22:14 trs ether: before you use it, wait for version 0.02 uploaded just now :)
22:15 * trs concurs with haarg
22:17 trs DateTime::Format::Duration is terrible for parsing durations, it turns out
22:17 trs https://rt.cpan.org/Dist/Display.html?Name=DateTime-Format-Duration
22:17 dipsy [ Active bugs for DateTime-Format-Duration ]
22:18 trs it's also pretty terrible for formatting them
22:18 ether trs: super. I don't like being one of the few people who've written a Test::Deep plugin
22:21 trs heh
22:34 kentnl Something terrible is happening to me, I have two SSL domains now complaining of security certificates that are too new.
22:34 kentnl metacpan is one of them, gmail is the other
22:35 kentnl make that 3, lastpass also
22:39 trs sounds like your clock is off?
22:40 kentnl *me checks*
22:41 kentnl how... somehow it was monday 2 weeks from now
22:42 kentnl thats a very unusaul case of the mondays
22:46 trs a clock in the future doesn't really explain your browser complaining of SSL certs from the future...
22:47 trs I'd expect your clock to be many years in the *past* for that
22:47 kentnl In this case, I think it was the cert expired after my clock date, and the new one wasn't valid till much later
22:48 kentnl or, maybe it was the past ... I'm not sure.
22:49 kentnl oh. yeh. seems somewhere I invoked 'date' incorrectly and accidentally set the time instead of simply formatting time ._.
22:51 kentnl trs: indeed, seems you are correct, it was monday last month instead of monday 2 weeks from now
22:52 kentnl or something like that.
22:55 trs nod
22:55 trs I've run into this before :)
22:55 trs it's vexing until you realize your clock is wacky
23:01 ether kentnl: I know New Zealand is in the future, but dude.
23:02 kentnl I know right, getting a bit too ahead of myself
23:02 kentnl And ending up taking two steps back instead of one forwards :D
23:02 ether I sometimes see the reveres problem where the clock is set to local time, but with the wrong timezone - so programs think it is more in the future than it really is
23:02 kentnl That has really funny problems for me when I try to have OS on UTC
23:03 kentnl because local time often being exactly 12 hours ahead of UTC makes it hard to notice that your clock is out by 12 hours when it happens xD
23:03 kentnl So when I dual boot into windows which vehemently hates the OS clock being in UTC ....
23:05 kentnl er. for some reason I wrote OS clock when I meant hardware. I'm not sure why I did that.
23:30 trs man, I've been loving me some Test::Deep recently.
23:32 ether :D
23:33 * ether wrote Test::Deep::YAML (to pair with ::JSON), ::UnorderedPairs and ::Types
23:33 * ether has a few in pieces in the garage that I should finish up sometime
23:40 kentnl ether: pieces in a garage? Why not a bike shed? =p
23:42 ether touche!
