12:36 andreeap I tried to index a release and I get this error "Can't call method "mode" on an undefined value" in MetaCPAN::Script::Release at line 284. Does anyone else had a similar experience or could explain me what this means exactly?

13:11 ranguard andreeap: https://github.com/CPAN-API/cpan-api/blob/master/lib/MetaCPAN/Script/Release.pm#L282

13:11 ranguard looks like it's trying to 'stat' a file - but for some reason it's failing
13:12 ranguard try print out $child - see what value it has
13:12 andreeap ok, I'll try that
13:13 ranguard print "$child" will give you the string value of the object
13:23 andreeap there are a bunch of files from the release
13:24 ranguard and do they all exist on disk in that location?

13:55 ranguard :)
13:58 riveter better late than never :P
13:59 oalders you can just churn out a few more to make up for it ;)
13:59 riveter urk
13:59 riveter yeah I'll try
13:59 riveter my writing process is kind of like pulling teeth
13:59 riveter through my eyesocket
13:59 oalders as long as you have a process
13:59 riveter heh
14:00 oalders i think the posts are supposed to be weekly, so i'm looking forward to next tuesday :)
14:05 riveter yeah
14:05 riveter I want to write something about moose, but ether won't let me interview her
14:05 oalders :)
14:06 riveter are there any other moose contributors here?  mst?
14:08 oalders i see rafl, haarg and trs on the contributors list
14:08 oalders i see myself too, but i can't remember why that would be
14:11 haarg what kind of questions do you have?
14:18 riveter haarg, I'm interest in compilers & language design
14:18 riveter so I've been reading a bit about perl's evolution
14:18 riveter and I'm interested in knowing more about what's involved in adding an object system to a language that wasn't really designed for it
14:18 riveter and I think some of my friends would be interested in this too
14:19 riveter now isn't a good time, but if you have some time this week I'd love to talk
14:19 haarg i can probably help with that
14:20 riveter awesome!
14:20 riveter when would be good for you?
14:21 haarg pretty much any time during the week should work
14:21 riveter day or evening?
14:23 haarg day
14:23 riveter tomorrow morning?
14:23 riveter I'm on NY time
14:24 haarg that should work
14:25 riveter 10?
14:25 dipsy 10 is PRINT "BRANES "
14:25 haarg sure
14:25 riveter dipsy++
14:25 andreeap ranguard: if the files exist there, is there possible to be something else?
14:25 dipsy riveter: Thanks!
14:27 ranguard oalders: ^^ do you know the code andreeap is talking about?
14:32 oalders ranguard: yes, it's just the recursive file search for the indexer
14:32 oalders she has tracked down where the full re-index is failing
14:32 oalders https://gist.github.com/andreeap/e63e090307d1b56c087f
14:33 oalders riveter: are you and andreeap pairing right now?

14:59 riveter oalders - whoops, no, we knocked off around when you asked that
15:16 kentnl the cpan.metacpan.org is supposed to be equivalent to a backpan server of a sorts isn't it?
15:17 ranguard kentnl: should be
15:17 kentnl diff -Naur <(  curl cpan.metacpan.org/authors/id/G/GG/GGALLONE/Bio-Homology-InterologWalk-0.5.meta ) <(  curl backpan.cpantesters.org/authors/id/G/GG/GGALLONE/Bio-Homology-InterologWalk-0.5.meta )
15:17 kentnl I found several hundred of these
15:17 kentnl authors/id/K/KR/KRAIH/Mojolicious-1.3.meta # Is another such example
15:20 ranguard I guess we'll need to mirror cpantesters or something
15:21 kentnl Shall I file a bug? If so, which repo?
15:21 ranguard please open a ticket in, umm, I guess metacpan-puppet
15:30 kentnl wow. somehow found one where one side has a .json file as a .meta file, and the other has a .yaml file :p
15:31 ranguard heh

16:30 xdg kentnl, what does backpan.perl.org have?
17:14 Ptolemarch joined #metacpan
17:27 kentnl xdg: backpan had the yaml
17:28 kentnl they're both named .meta of course, but their content differs

22:55 riveter metacpan-api, lib/MC/Document/Release sets the default value of status to 'latest'; in the corresponding test model (t/lib/MC/Tests/Release), status defaults to 'cpan'
22:55 riveter shouldn't that lead to test failures?
22:55 riveter for modules that don't get status explicitly set?
22:56 riveter *releases
