04:03 kentnl I'm musing over some x_<stuff> fields and figure metacpan people might be interested seeing the presence of that data would be most useful to them https://gist.github.com/kentfredric/a5c902e7d9fa801e4168

04:05 kentnl ( Relevant concepts include "does this dist need a c-compiler or not" and things that are ultimately all related to similar "external deps that cant fit in prereqs and cant easily be tested for" stuff )
04:28 haarg needs_interpreter is an odd name for somewhere to list a compiler
04:29 haarg creating a multi-level complex data structure to store version information is excessive given that it can only ever be interpreted by a human
04:29 haarg yagni
04:41 oalders i could see how x_needs_os would be handy
04:41 oalders might look a bit messy once you start adding os versions and ranges
04:42 oalders but i could see how that would be useful in queries

15:16 mateu so i'm fiddling with Mo's es1.0.0 branch of cpan-api combined with the unreleased version of ESX-Model
15:16 mateu and while i can get a number of cpan-api tests to pass i'm getting transient results: https://gist.github.com/mateu/e6f5b2c95de6534cecf6
15:16 dipsy [ Intransient Test Results for --- vagrant@metacpan-dev:~metacpan-api$ prove -v -Ilib -It/lib -Ilocal/lib/perl5 t/release/multiple-modules.t ]
15:21 oalders weird
15:21 oalders i guess you had already set up the fakepan before that first failure?
15:22 mateu yep
15:24 oalders the test results are randomly flipping back and forth?
15:24 mateu correct
15:24 mateu in particular sometimes I get an arrayref for $release->provides (as desired) sometimes just a string (last of the three example in the gist^^)
15:25 oalders so maybe the issue is with ESX-Model?
15:26 oalders that branch is mostly uncharted territory, i think
15:26 oalders except for you and riveter looking at it :)
15:26 mateu seems suspicious yes
15:27 oalders rwstauner, have you looked at mo's branch at all?

18:54 rwstauner no i haven't looked at the branch
18:54 rwstauner how far behind is it?  it's possible that there are bugs that have been fixed
18:54 rwstauner i do recall something with module ordering
18:57 rwstauner overall that particular thing sounds like a bug though
18:57 rwstauner since es doesn't care if a value is wrapped in an array, we should be specifying that provides always is

21:51 andreeap I indexed a release that chokes on a pipe with no other error given right before creating a new MetaCPAN::Document::File. I think this happens because it is a broken pipe, but I don't know how to check if this is the cause.
22:12 oalders andreeap: can post more information?  at the very least the command you're using to index this particular distribution so that someone can try to replicate it
22:23 andreeap This is the command I used with the output I get https://gist.github.com/andreeap/2b5474b44ae5d25cb87b

23:34 oalders looks like she's getting stuck on .karmafifo in that dist
23:35 oalders i guess she can skip files that return true for -p?
