01:08 ether hi, could Dist-Zilla-Plugin-GitHub-0.40 please be reindexed?  I've just fixed some permissions problems
01:08 ether thanks :)

04:48 oalders ether: done
06:02 kentnl haarg: the multilevel data structure really is probably my brain going "hey, we should probably encourage some kind of normal form for verisons at least that we can somewhat validate to some degree"
06:03 kentnl vs: "gcc":"Any version where Pi/2 = sqrt(version)" sort of nuttyness ;)
06:04 kentnl ( And I figure if you're really careful as a downstream and know what the "Thing" is you're getting version requirements for, you *might* be able to *selectively* test specific ones automatedly.
06:04 kentnl or even transmute those specifications into their own dependency specifications ( say for instance, arch )
06:07 kentnl yes, it would require them to potentially have special case-code for each and every value of "thing", but that might be better than what they already have :)

14:56 neilb oalders: you do realise I can hand-pick challenging dists for you every month?
14:56 oalders neilb: i thought that was a cry for help
14:57 neilb sorry, not falling for that
14:57 oalders i haven't gotten any response from the maintainer of my dist. how long until i should just as for a new one?
15:00 neilb oalders: I told him to ignore you until the 30th Jan ;-)
15:00 oalders :D
15:17 andreeap oalders: if a tarball is_impolite the indexer just moves along with it  and the same goes for is_naugthy? It  just logs if any of these two are true and does nothing else about it? I just want to make sure I got this right
15:19 oalders andreeap: except for: $fpath = "" if $relative !~ /\// && !$at->is_impolite;
15:20 oalders on a related noted, could you change == "" to == q{} ?
15:20 oalders that's easier to read
15:20 andreeap oh, that was right under my nose, and yes, I will change that
15:21 oalders thanks
15:21 oalders for stuff like this "git grep is_impolite" will give you a quick glance at where it comes up in the repo
15:22 andreeap thanks
15:23 neilb hey oalders: what would you think about checking whether the github repo actually exists, and not linking / showing it if it doesn’t? Obviously it might be temporary, but there are some dists that list a repo in their metadata, but the repo isn’t there any more. I need to check that, but thought MetaCPAN might want to, too…
15:24 oalders neilb: makes sense. maybe open a ticket with one or two example dists?
15:24 neilb roger that
15:26 * neilb adds to his todo list for later

17:41 ether oalders: thanks for the reindex!
18:47 ranguard though travis failed
18:47 ranguard oh, perl critic
19:09 oalders mateu: https://travis-ci.org/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/jobs/46466471
19:09 dipsy [ Travis CI - Free Hosted Continuous Integration Platform for the Open Source Community ]
19:12 mateu oalders: yeah, i was a dingbat and didn't run the full suite of tests, where I would have noticed perl critic didn't like me embedding a pakcage in a test
19:12 oalders mateu: i think you can just add a ## no critic for that
19:13 oalders i'd rather see that package in the test than have to go digging for it :)
19:13 mateu ok, then that answers my question about creating a t/lib/Package.pm with no don't just bypass the critic in this case
19:17 oalders :)
