00:23 riveter what is 02packages?
00:26 BinGOs a file generated by PAUSE
00:26 BinGOs http://www.cpan.org/modules/02packages.details.txt.gz and http://www.cpan.org/modules/02packages.details.txt
00:28 riveter huh, thanks
00:29 BinGOs other relevant files are http://www.cpan.org/modules/06perms.txt.gz and http://www.cpan.org/modules/06perms.txt # PAUSE namespace permissions
00:30 BinGOs and http://www.cpan.org/authors/01mailrc.txt.gz # list of CPAN authors
00:30 riveter that being who is authorized to upload each file
00:30 riveter perms I mean
00:30 BinGOs each module (package) rather than file per se
00:30 riveter right
00:31 riveter what's with the numeric prefixes?
00:31 BinGOs this is conjecture, but possibly so that they come first in listings
00:33 riveter makes sense
00:33 riveter thanks

14:34 riveter how do we add a release to fakecpan for testing?
14:34 andreeap that's a perfect question
14:34 andreeap yes
14:35 rwstauner t/var/fakecpan/configs
14:35 andreeap I am not really comfortable with asking sometimes, I 'm afraid I didn't asked correctly
14:35 rwstauner there are a bunch of files in there that serve as examples
14:35 riveter thanks rw :)
14:35 rwstauner each file is a "config" describing to Module::Faker how to construct a dist
14:35 rwstauner and the t/fakecpan.t file runs CPAN::Faker
14:35 riveter oh even better
14:35 rwstauner which builds a dist for each of those config files
14:35 riveter I thought we were going to be dumping
14:35 riveter some tarballs somewhere :)
14:35 rwstauner and sets up the magic cpan files (like 02packages, etc)
14:36 rwstauner Module::Faker doesn't have a ton of docs, so if you have a question about it please ask
14:36 riveter great, thanks so much
14:37 rwstauner glad to help
14:37 riveter I was all set to spend all morning poking through and figuring this stuff out
14:37 riveter but andreeap set me straight :)
14:37 rwstauner there's some value to that (to discovering things for yourself), but asking is usually better
14:38 rwstauner if you have the question, somebody else does (or will) too
14:38 riveter I'm coming to appreciate that
14:38 riveter slowly
14:38 rwstauner :)
14:38 rwstauner docs for the api are something i'm supposed to have been working on
14:38 rwstauner so this would be a good thing to go in there
14:38 rwstauner so, thanks for asking!

18:24 andreeap I have a new module that does what import_tarball did in Release.pm, but I can't pass this error "2015/01/13 13:03:30 F release: invalid top directory at /opt/perl-5.18.2/lib/5.18.2/File/Find.pm line 472." I know I did something wrong while passing arguments(too, too many), but can't seem to figure out. Here is the new module https://github.com/andreeap/cpan-api/blob/indexing/lib/MetaCPAN/Script/ProcessTarball.pm
18:26 oalders andreeap: yes, that's a lot of positional parameters
18:27 oalders that's going to be confusing
18:27 oalders but if you want to debug them, just try something like "use DDP; my @args = @_; p ( @args );" inside your find() method
18:28 oalders ideally you'd want to validate all of your parameters anyway, but that will get you started
18:28 andreeap if it's not that, there is something else that should be obvious that I did wrong?
18:28 oalders well, let's see if it's that first ;)
18:29 oalders and also, you should check that method to see if you even require all of those parameters
18:29 oalders maybe you can toss some of them out
18:29 sue joined #metacpan
18:34 andreeap it's weird but know everything it's fine
18:34 andreeap now*
18:34 andreeap I don't get that error anymore
18:36 oalders :)
