08:00 Mike__B Hi, I wanted to contribute some patches to metacpan. I downloaded the vagrant box and basically think I followed all the steps.
08:00 Mike__B However if I access the web UI I get this:  IndexMissingException[[cpan] missing]
08:00 Mike__B what did I miss?
08:02 haarg Mike__B: where are you seeing that message?
08:02 haarg also, where were you interested in contributing patches?
08:05 Mike__B arg: on localhost:5000 in my web browser
08:06 Mike__B haarg: basically I did not like it that there are many links to http-resources from the metacpan module pages, where there are httpS links available, I wanted to see if I could make some changes.

08:07 haarg which links are you referring to?
08:08 haarg Mike__B: personally, when i'm working on the metacpan site itself, i just use my local machine and run things from there.
08:09 haarg dealing with the api level is a bit different and i suspect the vagrant image would work better for that
08:09 haarg but i can't give any specific advice on the vagrant image as i don't use it
08:09 haarg a lot of the links metacpan uses are based on what the module authors provide
08:11 haarg for other things though, i'm sure we'd rather link to https where possible
08:13 Mike__B OK so it's not 'a lot of links'  but maybe more 'a few' links. If you'd take https://metacpan.org/pod/DBI as example, you'd see the 'raw' and 'explorer' links go to http-URLs where there are https-versions available just as well.
08:17 haarg sounds like a worthwhile change to me, and those are all things from metacpan and not metadata
08:17 Mike__B yep, but now i'd like to see if I can get the frontend running :D
08:18 haarg imo, the easiest way to get the front end running is by checking it out and running cpanm --installdeps .
08:20 haarg and then using plackup
08:20 haarg i can't help much more than that at this time in the night

08:53 Mike__B Got the vagrant box to work! It was as simple as using port 5001 :D
08:54 Mike__B Port 5000 is for the api, not the frontend.
08:55 haarg is that a docs issue or something wrong on the vm itslef?
08:55 haarg it*self

15:48 andreeap I have created a new module MetaCPAN::Model::Tarball which takes a tarball, extracts the files and returns them for indexing in MetaCPAN::Script::Release. This is the new module https://github.com/andreeap/cpan-api/blob/indexing/lib/MetaCPAN/Model/Tarball.pm and the files are used in import_tarball in https://github.com/andreeap/cpan-api/blob/indexing/lib/MetaCPAN/Script/Release.pm#L272. With these new changes, some tests related to releases are failing,
15:48 andreeap as seen here https://travis-ci.org/CPAN-API/cpan-api/jobs/47966264. I went over every line and printed the values, but I didn't find something out of order.
