14:49 castaway meep.. anyone mind telling me what the search results are ordered by on metacpan?
14:49 castaway lately searching for DateTime has it buried in the  list under 10 only slightly related things :(
14:51 ribasushi castaway: even if nobody replies, please add your problem to https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/issues/1231

19:49 ranguard April stats for metacpan sites (excluding the api) 1324.1 GB and 26,060,600 requests
19:51 ranguard castaway: it's ElasticSearch logic (that needs to be improved), so like a search engine, and some fields and types of matches get boosts in the sort order
19:51 ribasushi ranguard: metacpan.com/stats would be nice ;)
19:52 ranguard ribasushi: hmm, probably possible I think Fastly have an API for that, will have a look into it
19:53 ranguard ribasushi: say, has cpan.mc.org been behaving for you, just wondering if need to go on a bit of a publicity campaign about it being there
19:53 ribasushi after the last time I complained - rock solid
19:54 ribasushi ranguard++ # fixxxxage (whatever it ended up being ;)
19:54 ranguard mostly upgading nginx I think and tweaking some timeouts
19:55 ribasushi Date:   Fri Sep 19 19:43:57 2014  <--- last commit touching the mirror address
19:55 ribasushi it has not failed me since
19:55 ranguard excellent :)
19:57 ribasushi but yeah (back to previous topic) - if a .../stats is not very hard to do, it would be a good tool to shut up "but who uses perl anyway" types
20:03 Ptolemarch joined #metacpan
20:08 ranguard ribasushi: ok this looks very easy https://docs.fastly.com/api/stats - of course now I'll spend hours making them actually look nice!
20:09 ranguard maybe I'll just do a table to start.. see if anyone even looks at it :)

22:31 ether anyone know anything about what github uses for pod rendering? I just noticed that it expands L<> to search.cpan.org :/
22:42 leont That part is open source
22:43 leont I think in here https://github.com/github/markup
22:44 leont Pod::Simple::HTML apparently
22:45 ether ah cool
22:45 ether iirc David Wheeler didn't want to switch to metacpan exclusively, last time I asked, but was open to an API that specified how to render L<> (e.g. a sprintf-style formatter string)
22:46 ether it would be nice if we could get metacpan annointed as the preferred site by perl.org, though..
