18:07 gtodd I always though varnish-cache was saying "Guru Meditation:"
18:07 gtodd but it's "Guru Mediation:"
18:08 mattp_ joined #metacpan
18:08 gtodd which I guess makes sense ...
18:09 gtodd for metacpan.org it could say  "Guru Metamediation:"

18:10 ranguard we really should customise that page
18:10 ribasushi ranguard: so we'll get a "failcamel" page? \o/
18:10 ranguard ianburrell: I'll have a look at fastly in a moment
18:11 ranguard ribasushi: yea, you can store content on fastly's servers for them to serve in a 503 :)
18:11 * ranguard will lookup that camel ascii art thingy :)
18:12 ribasushi I have an ascii Moose-Goatse somewhere
18:12 ribasushi will that be of use...?
18:12 ranguard ribasushi: I'll come back to you when I get around to it :)
18:13 ribasushi mmmm "... around to it"
18:13 gtodd 503 cache thingie errors usually only happen once or twice but I'm getting a solid 5 minutes here ... there needs to be more than one custom error message to make it interestng :)
18:13 ranguard gtodd: URL?
18:14 ranguard oh, whole site, ok
18:14 ranguard home page working++ (it's from cache)
18:14 trs gtodd: oh man, I always read it as meditation too.
18:14 trs now it's a lot less interesting.
18:15 gtodd oh I thought it was the whole site?  was https://metacpan.org/recent but it's back working again

18:15 gtodd trs: maybe it was Meditation in some earlier version :)

18:16 ranguard hmm, that's a lot of errors
18:16 ranguard oalders: heh, need to change monitoring to get a page that's not in cache!
18:17 oalders :)
18:17 ranguard gtodd: I saw the error once, but all seems ok now?
18:17 trs nothing here: https://status.fastly.com/
18:17 oalders http://status.panopta.com/metacpan
18:18 oalders That has some red dots
18:18 gtodd ranguard: yup
18:19 gtodd trs: I thought it was an Amiga thing ....
18:19 sivoais joined #metacpan
18:20 ranguard oalders: hmm, but those are a 30 seconds or so
18:20 oalders yeah, the red dot just means that there has been an outage today
18:21 garu_ joined #metacpan
18:21 gtodd trs: and varnish copied it ... I think it must have been changed from Meditation -> Mediation
18:22 gtodd unless Guru Mediation is evidence of a fork or some kind of  evil hacker at work
18:23 ranguard I'll increase the timeouts: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s54/sh/7a8e6ba8-103c-4976-9a71-c15ec1592d8f/23efead115472d5b4e0e322c7be65f09
18:26 ranguard oalders: that api alert from pingdom means it is 100% our server, not Fastly
18:27 oalders looks like a decent spike in errors since late May
18:28 ranguard cpan.mc.org has been fine

18:52 ranguard ianburrell: ok, so from your last email you can't replicate the issue with the IP's being returned by your DNS
18:52 ranguard even from the boxes that were seeing the errors
19:21 skaufman joined #metacpan
19:21 skaufman is it caching or me doing something stupid that is leading https://metacpan.org/pod/Amazon::S3Curl::PurePerl to point to the previous version
19:29 oalders skaufman: it has only been 32 minutes
19:30 oalders you may need to wait another 28
19:30 oalders :)
19:30 oalders indexing is immediate, but flagging a release as "latest" runs via cron
19:31 skaufman cool, thanks
19:31 skaufman i ask because i screwed up the previous release of that module and that led to weirdness
19:31 skaufman in terms of clicking the main module from the distro page
19:36 oalders oh, i see. interesting
19:37 ianburrell ranguard: Seems to be working now.
19:37 oalders skaufman: how did that happen?
19:38 skaufman heh
19:38 skaufman oalders: didnt use dist zilla properly,
19:38 oalders :)
19:38 skaufman had a VERSION in the module that was the same as the previous version
19:39 skaufman trying to remember the exact weirdness
19:40 skaufman but i think the url led to the previous version's distribution because the versions of the module were the same
