12:53 Tux Hello hard workers!
12:54 Tux In the top-right corner for any module (e.g. https://metacpan.org/pod/Text::CSV_XS ) there is a section that shows me "++ed by:"
12:55 Tux I don't see that in the module struct I get back from MetaCPAN::Client
12:55 Tux is that what I use the "favorite" method for?

13:53 ranguard Tux: https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/blob/master/lib/MetaCPAN/Web/Controller/Pod.pm#L102
13:54 ranguard oh, actually that's just YOUR favs
13:55 Tux I meanwhile found the fav
13:55 Tux now working on rating
13:55 ranguard :)
13:56 ranguard Tux: please do send doc patches ;)
13:56 Tux http://tux.nl/perl.html (last two columns) Work-in-progress …
13:56 ranguard nice :)
13:56 Tux the problems I hit so far: ->items() is not available if there is a scroller
13:57 Tux MetaCPAN::Client doe not install without a lot of manual interventions (all Elasticsearch related)
13:58 Tux CPAN::Testers::WWW::Reports::Query::AJAX.pm # 155
13:58 Tux my $version = $self->{options}{version} || $self->{recent} // "";
13:58 Tux that // "" is needed if a module has never been released yet
13:59 Tux Use of uninitialized value $version in hash element at /pro/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.22.0/CPAN/Testers/WWW/Reports/Query/AJAX.pm line 156.
14:04 ranguard I'm sure patches welcome :)
14:27 Tux does barbie prefer RT or github tickets?
14:27 Tux RT it is (no github)
14:37 ranguard yea, not seen him on GH
14:38 ranguard hmm, maybe that's a lie, can't rmeember :)

21:46 margeas hi oalders
21:49 oalders margeas: hello!
21:52 margeas I've some questions about the dev vm: do I need to download and process all of the CPAN in order to hack on the code portion relative to the ES api upgrade?
21:53 margeas At the moment I've just executed index-cpan.sh and I see it downloaded and processed through ES some 400 distros...
22:00 oalders margeas:that's fine.  you don't need everything
22:00 oalders if you do get everything, you'll just probably have a really slow VM
22:00 oalders so i would say, get as far as you can with the VM.
22:01 oalders once you start to feel constrained and you're more comfortable with the setup, we'll get you on some hardware
22:01 oalders we have a staging machine you can use
22:01 oalders it's quite powerful, lots of RAM etc
22:01 margeas it already downloaded and indexed 400 distros...
22:02 oalders so that's good enough to start with in most cases
22:02 oalders if you're dealing with a bug in a certain distribution, you can add to your local CPAN and re-index, but a small subset of CPAN is best for now
22:03 margeas my problem is (you wouldn't believe): we are facing a hot weave right now, and my laptop will surely pass the CPU thermal threshold and reboot as I've already experienced already a number of times :S
22:06 margeas all right...so I'd say I'm ready to start hacking....my second question is: I've started reading the sources, and I think the portion of code which I should concentrate, at least initially, is the /src/metacpan subtree, right?
22:07 margeas I'm sorry I meant "src/metacpan-api/lib/MetaCPAN" subtree

22:10 margeas otherwise, could you please point me to the right track telling me where is the bulk of the API calls which I should upgrade?
22:12 ether I just had to move my laptop out of my office into a downstairs room because of the heat
22:19 margeas ether: mine is docked and I've slightly solved by putting a USB FAN in front of the CPU part...another one is coming to help as forecast here say it will even rise of +5°C in the next two weeks...
22:19 margeas a 4'' USB fan to be precise....
22:41 ether a fan wasn't helping me as all the air to blow around is also hot.
