19:22 ether the profile editor won't accept unicode characters in the "Extra" box
19:22 ether I tried adding { "hello" : "ಠ_ಠ" } (with CRs) and it was not accepted
19:22 genehack somebody alert the authorities, we've got a hacker over here

19:44 tsbtmn I'm new to web development and I have been poking around the metacpan-web code as it seems like a good, modern example of how it can be done with Perl...
19:44 tsbtmn I've noticed that http://metacpan.org strips trailing slashes, giving a 304 redirect to the same URL, but without the trailing slash.  However, I don't get the same behavior on the development VM.  On the VM, trailing slashes are preserved.  Can anyone explain why the two behave differently?
19:49 ether my guess is an extra proxy sitting in front on the production version, e.g. nginx
19:49 ether someone else will know the real answer :)
19:52 tsbtmn ether: That was my guess, and actually what prompted me to download the VM and go looking for some sort of proxy configuration.  As it turns out, the VM doesn't do the same thing as the live site.

20:16 oalders tsbtmn: not sure where exactly this is happening, but the VM bypasses nginx
20:16 oalders also, we're using fastly for some front end caching
20:16 oalders which won't happen on the VM
20:17 oalders ether: worth opening a ticket for unicode chars in the profile editor.  it's not a problem for every field, is it?
20:28 ether nope, see my username
20:29 ether issue filed

21:27 ether it might be an -api issue instead of -web; if so, sorry!
