10:06 b_jonas Hi. Why can't I find the core pod documentation "perluniprops" in metacpan? Is that no longer in the core?
10:07 b_jonas Or is it generated at install-time?
10:29 ranguard b_jonas: http://perldoc.perl.org/perluniprops.html is the official home of it
10:29 ranguard not sure why not on metacpan
10:45 b_jonas ok

15:15 haarg b_jonas: it is as you suspected.  that file is generated at install time, but metacpan does its indexing entirely statically.
15:21 b_jonas haarg: thanks, so it's the same problem as with perlmodlib
15:21 b_jonas good to know

19:52 mantovani hey
19:52 mantovani I would to add a feature into metacpan, order the search answer by module reputation desc.
19:52 mantovani thank you very much.
20:02 ranguard mantovani: are you offering to do this work, or just saying you would like the feature?
20:03 ranguard there is already a big ticket to improve the search in general, but we need someone to work on it
20:03 mantovani I can do it
20:03 mantovani ranguard: it was made using catalyst ?
20:03 ranguard Elasticsearch
20:04 mantovani why don't use solr ?
20:04 mantovani is much better
20:04 mantovani http://lucene.apache.org/solr/features.html
20:05 mst the people who originally made the decision thought ES had a better featureset
20:06 mst personally I wish we'd started with postgresql and the indexer as a separate thing, but ... eh
20:06 mst that would've been a lot more up-front work
20:06 ranguard mantovani: mst would really thank you for doing that :)
20:07 mantovani Elasticsearch is very nice too, I get confused with another tool
20:07 mantovani ranguard: so let me understand better, now it does use elasticsearch or not ?
20:08 ranguard mantovani: yes, ES only at the moment
20:08 mst currently, it's catalyst with an ES backend
20:08 mantovani ok, so there is no rdbms that's why you said it:
20:08 mst the search ordering happens server side though so you'd need to modify the ES query
20:08 ranguard github.com/CPAN-API/ has all the code / dev VM / puppet config etc etc
20:08 mantovani 17:06 < mst> personally I wish we'd started with postgresql and the indexer as a separate thing, but ... eh
20:08 mst right
20:09 mantovani I'll download the read virtual machine and start on it
20:09 mantovani ready*
20:09 * ranguard has LOTs of production hardware for all this... just FYI :)
20:11 * mantovani glad people did with catayst
20:12 mantovani catalyst*
20:14 ranguard mantovani: https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-developer is what to use for the VM
20:14 ranguard enjoy *wave*
20:15 mantovani I saw this that's why I said vmware, thanks ranguard
