02:09 oalders ether: you could try re-indexing it at the command line and checking for errors

21:11 neilb If a dist has been re-indexed on PAUSE, such that entries for some packages have changed in 02packages, do I still need to request a re-index in MetaCPAN for the affected packages?
21:12 ether if 02packages is correct, I'd think not
21:12 ether but if there are still entries that are missing, then yes.  EINSUFFICIENTDATA :)
21:13 neilb all packages were previously in 02, but against an earlier release, now they’re pointing to a different release, but it’s not a recent release, it’s one from 2 years ago
21:47 ether ah, then reindexing the latest release ought to get those updated then.
21:47 ether how did you happen to have the index pointing ot an earlier release?
21:48 ether the earlier release must have been the one reindexed
21:51 neilb short version: it’s complicated, and related to some recent changes in PAUSE. some packages were indexed against the 0.04 (by EWATERS) release and some against the 0.06 release (by CHIPS). Also CHIPS previously didn’t have perms for all packages. Plus in his release some of the packages didn’t have versions, but they did in the 0.04 release, which PAUSE also didn’t like. So had to add permissions, tell PAUSE to forget
21:51 neilb versions of some packages, then re-index CHIPS’s release. Now 02packages and 06perms are both inline for the 0.06 release, but those packages need re-indexing in MetaCPAN
21:54 neilb (I’ve opened a ticket listing the packages)
22:32 ether ah, yay :)
22:33 ether to be really complete, reindexing all distribution releases in order would get you to the correct state
22:33 ether but having PAUSE forget about everything in that namespace and just reindexing the latest release should be equivalent unless you really want old releases to remain in the index for some reason
22:34 ether that's the sort of thing chorny's tool reports on -- http://cpanold.chorny.net/?a=ETHER
