16:43 alanjf I seem to recall that https://explorer.metacpan.org would save the query one was testing (there would be a hash in the url that one could save and use htat to come back to it later) but that no longer seems to happen. Am I missing something?

18:04 haarg the mechanism it used for that was to save them in a gist.  which meant it needed a github api key publicly available.
18:05 haarg github saw it in a repo and automatically nuked it
18:15 alanjf Why did they remove it?
18:16 alanjf And why not just save it locally on the web server? A simple DB is all one would need for something so simple.
18:17 haarg the explorer is entirely client side (aside from the api requests)
18:18 haarg github scans their repos for sensitive information like api keys, and disables them if they are found
18:20 haarg if we kept the api key out of the repo it wouldn't get automatically nuked.  that's probably the best option for a fast fix.
18:25 alanjf Yeah. Could just keep the key in the script that actually needs it. Or just use a local DB. Storing small bits of text needn't be a complicated affair.
18:26 haarg a local db is a rather significant change to the app
18:27 haarg since as i mentioned, it currently has no server side component
18:34 alanjf Oh
18:45 ranguard alanjf: if you interested in configuring puppet to run PG, clustered across multiple boxes across multiple datacenters we'd really love the help (you might guess I'd got other things than explore queries that I'd like to save there) :)
18:52 alanjf Ah. I didn't realize it was quite to that scale. Thought it was more of a straight forward web script of sorts.
