08:36 * ranguard used some pod2md type thing and then the plack middleware to render the MD (we run that nightly on our full code base) then threw in some linking magic (our name space links internally, otherwise links to metacpan)
08:36 ranguard oalders: let me know if of interest and i can find the code

21:26 oalders i'm wondering if the fastly caching is getting in the way of ++ updating on module pages
21:26 oalders after i hard refresh i saw the number update permanently
21:26 oalders ranguard ^^
21:30 ranguard oalders: umm, that'd be browser caching not fastly cacheing IIRC
21:30 oalders where should we fix that?
21:31 oalders or are you saying it's just the caching of the entire page?
21:31 * ranguard is guessing, but yea, think whole page
21:32 oalders for some reason i was thinking that the widget was entirely JS driven, but i guess it's just the increment/decrement
21:34 ranguard it's only personalisation (if you've rated it or not) that's JS based at the moment
21:36 ranguard oalders: Ahh, https://metacpan.org/pod/Data::Page has a last-modified of Mon, 07 Dec 2009 19:49:01 GMT
21:36 ranguard which is when the module was last released...
21:36 oalders heh
21:37 ranguard but we don't have any other caching headers
21:37 ranguard so a browser might keep that for a long while before checking it again
21:39 oalders there are calls to last_modified() in a bunch of places and the one i'm checking is using the modules release date :(
21:39 ranguard well.. that sort of makes sense... if we didn't have ratings on the page :)
21:40 oalders well it makes sense for part of the page
21:40 oalders but not the entire page
21:41 ranguard unfortunatly browsers don't cache only parts of a page
21:41 ranguard well, unless we move the ratings to AJAX
21:41 oalders edge side includes?
21:42 oalders anyway, how about a minimum datestamp for Last-Modified
21:42 oalders and that could default to the last time we deployed changes to the site
21:42 ranguard possible, though we loose gzip if we use esi
21:42 oalders or something like that
21:43 oalders yeah, not really suggesting esi :)
21:43 oalders but i'd like to avoid headers that say the page was last changed 6 years ago
21:44 ranguard yea, true
21:46 oalders it's all happening via MetaCPAN::Web::Role::Response::last_modified() so should be easy to set a minimum time.  even if it's just some arbitrary date in the recent past
21:46 _dolmen_ can someone reindex DOLMEN/Pod-Spell-1.18 ?
21:46 oalders _dolmen_ : didn't this already get done?
21:46 oalders i checked it a while back, i thought
21:46 _dolmen_ Pod::Worldlist is marked as unauthorized while my perms have changed since the release
21:46 _dolmen_ https://metacpan.org/release/DOLMEN/Pod-Spell-1.18
21:46 oalders ah, it's the _perms_
21:46 oalders sorry
21:48 ranguard oalders: yea, just make that like a month max or something, to be honest once we get the caching at fastly sorted then the browser caching can be made quite short
21:48 oalders _dolmen_ : fixed now.
21:48 oalders you'll need to force a refresh
21:48 oalders ranguard: ok, let's do that
21:48 oalders i'll take care of it
