11:34 sawyer so i want to release MetaCPAN::Client with Search::Elasticsearch 2.0+
11:34 sawyer any objections?

12:51 oalders sawyer: sounds good!
13:34 jdv79 oh the upgrade is happening?
13:50 oalders jdv79: we put a lot of hours into it last week, so it's looking good, but still a lot of failing tests to fix
13:51 oalders all of the mi/es2 branches are for the upgrade
13:51 oalders and the master branches are effectively frozen
13:53 sawyer jdv79: "
13:53 sawyer err..
13:53 sawyer "happening" is a period, but yeah :)
13:55 jdv79 what does punctuation have to do with anything?
13:55 jdv79 at least it seems imminent now
13:55 jdv79 the minion stuff sounded good for the p6 stuff too cause its super slow.

22:57 perigrin it came up in #perl earlier that metacpan isn't really doing any basic SEO type stuff, and since it's a) something I want to learn for my own purposes, and b) I have access to some professional SEO tools through a client ... I started poking at metacpan
22:58 perigrin but before I step on toes ... is anyone doing it now?
22:58 oalders perigrin: hopefully you?
22:58 Grinnz :)
22:59 perigrin I'm happy to for reasons a and b above ... I just didn't want to piss of people by being a bull in a china shop :)
22:59 oalders no danger of that. we know we need to improve that stuff but nobody has stepped up to do it
22:59 oalders would be very helpful
22:59 perigrin but more specifically does metacpan have a Google Analytics account? I know the tools I have would love to have access to it
23:00 * perigrin is going to be using https://moz.com/products/pro
23:00 oalders perigrin: we do have Google Analytics
23:01 oalders how do we get you access?
23:01 perigrin that's a good question
23:01 oalders do you have a gmail address?
23:01 perigrin perigrin@gmail.com
23:01 perigrin :D
23:04 perigrin So the good news is metacpan.org is ranked #9 for "CPAN" and #49 for "Perl"
23:04 oalders :)
23:04 oalders perigrin: i just added you.  you should get an email
23:05 perigrin ta
23:06 perigrin connected ... that should make moz happier.
23:08 oalders perigrin++
23:10 * perigrin blinks
23:10 perigrin https://metacpan.org/author/barbie
23:10 perigrin has the highest number of external links
23:11 perigrin 21640
23:11 Grinnz lol
23:11 perigrin but weirdly from 5 domains
23:11 _dolmen_ joined #metacpan
23:19 perigrin okay some basic questions so I know what I'm doing ...
23:19 perigrin what do we want to rank for?
23:19 perigrin :)
23:20 * perigrin suspects that this is a complicated question to actually answer and has several different answers depending on the page.
23:45 perigrin oalders: where would you like me to file tickets so I can keep track of things? I plan on doing the actual work when I can ... but this way if someone else gets to it first I'm off the hook ... I mean I can remember what all I was gonna work on and people can discuss the merits of it.
23:53 * perigrin mostly answers his own question there
