18:30 ranguard I had my CPAN upload 3 seconds ago... why isn't it on your website!
18:31 ranguard oh.. there it is :)
18:33 ranguard oalders: http://v1.metacpan.org/release/LLAP/CatalystX-Fastly-Role-Response-0.01 now on CPAN - I'll go rip out a load of my code from our repo and use this instead when I get a moment
18:34 ranguard reviews/comments/questions/laughter at my code, all appreciated
18:34 ranguard haarg: please also have a look as might help when you want to have a chat with me about caching
18:40 haarg so i could actually probably just comment on the PR
18:41 haarg but i have some adjustments in mind for the purge keys
18:41 haarg first, the dist and author should be namespaced - "DIST-$dist" and "AUTHOR-$author"
18:42 haarg also, i think we want a common purge key for all of the html pages - basically anything we'd need to purge when css changes
18:42 haarg then a common key for the static files (images and such)
18:43 haarg and one for the "asset" files.  combined/minified css and js.  really though these should never be purged.
18:45 ranguard haarg: all sounds sensible
18:46 haarg the asset thing has been a bit of a problem in the past
18:47 haarg they end up getting purged when we change other things, but browsers will end up with cached pages referring to them.
18:47 haarg it's much less of an issue now than it was a while back, but still i'd like to avoid it.
18:50 ranguard right, but we don't store versioned assets, so we just have to hope the CDN has them for long enough to match the browser's cache
18:51 ranguard that said I want to set browser cache quite low, and max out the CDN cache and then just use purging
18:51 haarg agreed
18:51 haarg we do store versioned assets, kind of
18:51 haarg they get left on disk
18:52 haarg that + cdn should keep them available long enough that browsers should never have problems
18:52 * ranguard nods
18:52 haarg we already have the cache timeouts set reasonably so it isn't much of a problem, but browser caches aren't the most reliable thing
18:54 ranguard ok, well I'll re-do the pull request now I've split out this logic into CPAN modules and look at doing some of this (we can always add more later).
