00:26 kid51 paste?
00:32 kid51 Is this an appropriate channel in which to ask about https://grep.metacpan.org/api ?
00:32 kid51 If I want to grep CPAN for this string: mkdir "unreadable", 0000
00:32 kid51 ... I enter it into the search box, hit Search, and go to this URL:
00:32 kid51 https://grep.metacpan.org/search?q=mkdir+%22unreadable%22%2C+0000&qd=&qft=
00:33 kid51 Per the instructions at https://grep.metacpan.org/api, to make that into an API call, I say:
00:33 kid51 curl -X GET 'https://grep.metacpan.org/api/search?q=mkdir+%22unreadable%22%2C+0000&qd=&qft='
00:33 kid51 ... and I get output here: https://gist.github.com/jkeenan/ab3a5f59d2c4950f09ead29c9a017d4e
00:33 kid51 I'm concerned with this part of the output:
00:33 kid51 {"start_at":"69","code":" write_text(\"hasdotfiles/.1\", \"\");\n\n mkdir \"hasdotdirs\", 0755;\n mkdir \"hasdotdirs/.1\";\n\n mkdir \"unreadable\", 0000;\n\n ...
00:34 kid51 In the corresponding page for the file in question, https://metacpan.org/source/PERLANCAR/File-MoreUtil-0.61/t/01-basics.t#L74, the line searched for is clearly on a line by itself.
00:34 kid51 Why does the API return a group of lines starting 5 lines earlier?
00:44 preaction my guess would be that context can be important in understanding the code. the api does seem to tell you that line 74 was the one that matched, and that the context snippet starts at line 69
01:37 kid51 Ah, okay, I didn't previously see this:
01:37 kid51 "matchlines":[74]
01:38 preaction yeah, it took me a bit to notice, and then to figure out what the hell that meant ;)
