20:46 marcus you'll get a stomach-ache
20:47 sri maybe...
20:47 sri ...but it will be worth it!
20:51 sri i'm really trying to like doctor who... but somehow i fail
20:52 crab what flavour?
20:52 marcus dalek flavor
20:52 marcus I'm watching norwegian base jumpers
20:52 sri wait...isn't norway like flat?
20:53 crab norway is certainly not flat.
20:53 marcus denmark is flat
20:53 sri oh right, i've seen trollstigen
20:53 marcus right.
20:53 marcus norwegian is kinda famous for the fjords
20:54 marcus norway even
20:55 crab i took a norwegian to our mountains once, and i remember watching his face when we crossed an altitude equivalent to the highest point in norway and started seeing some _really_ big mountains.
20:56 marcus I was in chamonix this spring, pretty nice mountains
20:56 marcus crab: which country is that?
20:56 crab india
20:57 marcus :)
20:57 sri oh and you have preikestolen!
20:57 sri want to see that place some day

20:58 crab they're lovely.
21:00 crab last december i went on a solo trek to dayara bugyal as a birthday present to myself, and was rewarded with absolute solitude and a 7am view of the entire bandarpunchh massif at close range.
21:00 sri marcus: mt huashan? :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke4-cwNvDuE

21:04 sri it's crazy how many people are actually on these trails
21:18 sri seems heroku is actually a simple set of scripts to automate deployment on ec2
21:18 sri i guess a perl/mojolicious version wouldn't be hard :)
21:20 sri amazon really does all the hard stuff, you just base your bills on theirs
21:29 sri ah, the small heroku packages seem to be on shared ec2 nodes
21:29 sri then the price makes sense
21:29 marcus but I thought heroku supported a bunch of other platforms too.
21:29 sri "platforms"?
21:30 sri they support multiple frameworks and languages, which is trivial
21:31 sri but it seems to be all on ec2
21:31 sri even the fact that you get your first dyno without additional cost makes sense, it simply runs on the database node
21:32 sri every new one is simply a new ec2 instance
21:34 sri once google starts their app engine business i guess prices will get much more competitive
21:34 sri could be fun
21:35 sri once you have an automated system in place it pretty much manages itself
21:37 sri i don't believe in systems like app engine that dictate how you should write your web apps
21:37 sri but an ec2 system could allow pretty much everything
21:39 sri fully automated hot deployment software updates without downtime
21:40 sri i wonder if joyent is using ec2 too :)
22:07 marcus wasn't there an open source ec2 clone?
22:15 dotan sri: what's with the dancerbaiting? Are you reading their code or something?
22:16 sri sukria attacked me, now i'm having fun ;p
22:17 sri dancer so bad it's funny, i'll just tear them apart now
22:17 marcus what happened to alias' dancer vs mojolicious contest?
22:18 sri no idea
22:18 marcus guess it died after week 2
22:19 marcus ask: would be nice with a new release of MojoX::Renderer::TT
22:19 marcus ask: if you don't have time, I could do it for you given comaint.
22:19 marcus (cpanid mramberg)
22:19 dotan Attacked your in 2009, sri.
22:20 sri dotan: i've only recently become aware of it
22:20 sri dotan: i was very sick back then, would have been unable to really fight back
22:21 dotan Now you have all that procrastination energy to burn..
22:21 ltriant joined #mojo
22:22 dotan marcus: vti had some updates on his branch of Mojox::Renderer::TT
22:23 dotan (I mean github fork)
22:33 sri yea, so much spare energy and it's too warm outside for sport!
22:35 sri so far i'm not even digging deeper, just showing the obvious flaws most web developers knowing sinatra would see instantly
22:36 sri ruby folks already understand that there are now multple *classes* of web frameworks optimized for different tasks
22:39 sri marketing wise a public fight with dancer would be priceless
22:40 sri it gives the impression that there are only two options if done right
22:40 sri and we can't lose that fight ;)
22:42 sri taking on catalyst would be more effective, but i don't think there is someone passionate enough about it
23:02 sri even dancer folks are rather underwhelming, seems like they don't really stand behind their project
23:09 sri me ranting also works well for the revolutionary image i have in mind for mojolicious :D
