12:29 fish__ i have an plugin here and a route create with app->routes->bridge->to. i add this route to the config opts of this plugin. can i somehow use redirect_to (url_to) with it?
12:31 yko fish__:  set up name for that route and than use it for url_for to get appropriate url?
12:31 yko but actually i'm not sure what are you talking about :D
12:32 fish__ yeah, problem is: i don't fully understand that content_management plugin memowe wrotes ;)
12:32 yko than you should find memowe and shake him a bit :)
12:33 yko or (better) read docs for a plugin
12:33 fish__ acctually i don't really understand what i do here while setting up this route. it just use the example.. but you might be right and i can just use the get '/foo' => syntax instead if the my $route = app->routes->bridge(..)->to
12:33 yko if they are not enough to understand - read source code, write (extend) docs, send pull request, find memowe and shake him a bit
12:33 fish__ is there a 'get route for($name)' function?
12:34 yko don't think so
12:35 yko i have feeling you are doing something wrong
12:35 fish__ ah, but get/post/any returns the route. nice
12:35 yko sure they do
12:37 yko maybe i dont understand you, i'm ill for 2 weeks, have t37 and my head is just a jug with snot
12:38 fish__ well, it looks like it works and you were right, i did things 'wrong' (because i hacked based on the example without understanding what he's doing there)
12:38 yko :)
12:39 fish__ yko: https://github.com/memowe/mojolicious-plugin-content_management <- i setup the admin route like in the example
12:39 fish__ but know i just use: my $admin_route = get '/admin' => sub { .. } => 'admin'
12:39 fish__ s/know/now/
12:40 yko wait.... adin_route should be a bridge
12:40 yko *admin
12:40 yko why do you need it to be 'get' route?
12:40 fish__ no, i don't..
12:41 fish__ and to be honest, i don't really know what a bridge is..
12:42 yko -_-
12:42 yko fish__: http://mojolicio.us/perldoc?Mojolicious/Guides/Routing#Bridges
12:42 fish__ the only thing i need is something i can feed redirect_to, to have it redirect to the '/admin' bridge
12:42 fish__ yko: yeah, i'm already on it ;)

12:53 yko looks like mojolicious-plugin-content_management  is broken with Mojolicious 1.02 (latest)
12:53 fish__ oh, thats sad :/
12:53 fish__ guess i'll take care of that soon
13:05 fish__ something with flash seems to be broken here. i can use it on the one redirect but not on the other. it seems to be always empty after the redirect. but when i reload the page manually, the flash message shows up..
13:11 fish__ oh, okay. so the flash is stored in the session but if i plan to implement a logout function with a 'you are now logged out message' i can't clean the session..
13:14 fish__ uhm, not it seems thats not the problem
13:16 fish__ but its something related to the flash() in combination with session()

21:22 dekimsey Where is an appropriate place to tell Mojolicious about the "url base" (not sure what the appropriate terminology might be) for a given application? I have apache doing rewrites on incoming requests to the cgi app but I'm not sure how to get Mojo to create urls that are appropriate (given the rewriting).
21:23 dekimsey I've dug around in the docs and thought under might be it, but it doesn't seem to be.
21:24 sri you either rewrite CGI parameters in apache properly or use a hook in mojolicious to rewrite $self->req->url
21:25 dekimsey When you say properly, what exactly do you mean?
21:25 sri i'm no apache expert, when i say properly i mean CGI
21:26 sri actually i don't even know if apache can do it
21:27 sri when i have to touch apache it's usually just ScriptAlias
21:28 dekimsey Hrmm, lemme look around. I hadn't considered I might be doing the rewriting poorly. The current rule i have takes request for  (assuming no file on the system is found) my-app/some/path => my-app/app.cgi/some/path.  This comes from an older, CGI::A which used a hook to cleanup the PATH_INFO env.
21:28 dekimsey Unfortunately ScriptAlias is disallowed on our host.
21:28 dekimsey I could probably request it, maybe. But then I'd have to request it... and thats loads of fun.

21:30 dekimsey Thanks sri.
21:31 sri no surprise it has a 9+ rating
21:32 marcus it's pretty great
21:32 sri dekimsey: changing helpers is usually not a good idea, better to rewrite the incoming URL
21:32 sri dekimsey: a recipe in the wiki would be very much appreciated if you get it to work :)

22:14 tempire_ sri: what do you think about a 'source' link in the podrenderer?
22:14 sri unsure, dunno about possible security risks
22:15 tempire_ I'm thinking default off, changeable by a constant or something of that sort.
22:16 tempire_ I suppose I could look into subclassing the podrenderer, and making it a separate module
22:16 tempire_ not sure if that would make sense
22:17 sri i generally don't like source links though
22:17 tempire_ I use the search.cpan source link all the time
22:17 sri maybe some ajax thingy that allows syntax highlighting
22:17 tempire_ hmm
22:19 tempire_ actually, it would make sense to be a plugin parameter switch.

22:35 blaze-x_ I'm trying to run the example http://blog.kraih.com/glue-for-the-web but I'm getting: Can't locate object method "pause" via "Mojolicious::Controller". Changes file mentions pause in 0.99something but I can't find any reference to pause() in Controller.pm
22:36 blaze-x_ is now known as blaze-x
22:36 sri blaze-x: just leave out pause and finish
22:37 blaze-x sri: then it'll complain about ->process()
22:37 sri replace that with ->start
22:38 sri a very unfortunate example, half of it got simplified shortly after the blog post
22:39 blaze-x am now getting  Waiting for delayed response, forgot to render or resume?
22:40 blaze-x but I do call $self->render like in the example
22:40 sri you don't, it's delayed
22:40 sri it's all fine
22:41 sri the warning is there because async is advanced stuff, normal users usually don't touch
22:42 blaze-x I'm mostly into bare metal PSGI, I thought I'd give mojo a shot, just wanted to run an example.
22:42 blaze-x yeah, but I'm not getting anything back as well,
22:42 sri bad example then
22:42 sri start with the official documentation
22:43 blaze-x it's most likely because http://blog.kraih.com/rss.xml is offline (or unresponsive at least)
22:43 sri that example is about as advanced as it gets, worst choice possible for starting
22:44 sri yes it is, still bad example :)
22:44 sri blaze-x: http://mojolicio.us/perldoc?Mojolicious/Lite # that's where you want to be :)
22:45 blaze-x I disagree, I think it's a good point to start, I wanted to see what it would tell me. And I'm quite pleased. no garbage in the log output, nice output on error!, stacktrace if wanted but not in your face... hmmm yes, I'd say I like the error handling side very well!
22:45 sri try "% die;" in a template then :D
22:46 blaze-x I don't like those,
22:46 blaze-x I'm using logicless templates, have been for 5 years now
22:46 sri you can actually look inside the compiled perl from the exception screen
22:46 sri sure, it's worth it for eyecandy though ;)
22:48 blaze-x thing is, I've written (haven't we all) my own duct-tape-for-the-web, I was quite happy to discover it was PSGI compatible and now it seems Mojo+Mustache is almost exactly what I have coded up myself. Glad to see all these idea's are converging. I'm leaving behing custom (mod_perl2) code to migrate to less code in PSGI mode, am now looking in adopting some Mojo :-)
22:49 sri heh, i like mustache too
22:49 blaze-x hmmm, that might sound a bit presumptious, I meant, that my code resembles it, I don't have as much functionality as Mojo ofcourse. I'm a one man show.
22:50 blaze-x but I like the shorthand to longhand mode, I really dislike that in most minimalistic stuff, they are unable to grow
22:50 sri the one thing i miss in mustache is helpers though
22:50 blaze-x anyway, congratulations to everyone who made this happen, nice job!
22:51 sri thanks
22:51 blaze-x helpers?
22:51 purl somebody said helpers was http://search.cpan.org/~mramberg/Catalyst-Devel-1.10/lib/Catalyst/Helper.pm
22:52 tempire_ well.  if that isn't confusing to newbies, I don't know what is.
22:52 sri http://mojolicio.us/perldoc?Mojolicious/Plugin/DefaultHelpers
22:52 sri http://mojolicio.us/perldoc?Mojolicious/Plugin/TagHelpers
22:53 blaze-x a bit much to read right now,
22:53 sri http://mojolicio.us/perldoc?Mojolicious/Plugin/I18n # this one has its own "l" helper for translations
22:55 blaze-x I use a contentfilter for that, <trans></trans> to .po mapping. it's fast and I can push my js trough it as well
22:56 blaze-x ofcourse, this was back when mod_perl2 was the new/fast kid in town
22:56 blaze-x I might want to do some reading up :)
22:57 sri sure, still looking for the holy grail of template systems myself too :)
22:58 sri the thing about embedded perl templates is that they are a really nice fallback for when you just need power
22:59 blaze-x in my experience the most simple solution: every dir can have a nav.thtml all content will be wrapped in it. Content will be constructed with template system X
23:00 blaze-x I usually split nav.thtml on <!--{INCLUDE_TEMPLATE}--> (nostalgia from Template::Magic), and keep it in memory, so wrapping content is fast
23:01 blaze-x then again, for really high performance, I write the endresult back to disk and use PSGI with X-Sendfile
23:02 blaze-x I then switch template systems as they come and go, also interesting for $Clients mandating template_system_X
23:03 sri https://github.com/kraih/mojolicio.us/blob/master/mojolicious.pl#L17 # the fixed example btw.
23:04 blaze-x the reason I never use embedded templates is that I'm a javascript programmer as well, and I refuse to mix three languages in one document :) jk
23:04 blaze-x sri: thanks,
23:10 blaze-x well I'm off, thanks for the help sri. Goodnight if you're in CET.
23:10 sri nn :)
