07:40 MisterHatt anyone using couchdb with mojolicious?
07:40 MisterHatt I'm wondering if it's worth using any of the modules for interacting with couch or just the mojo useragent and render_json
07:42 sri i would use the useragent
07:44 MisterHatt reasoning?
07:44 sri because it's fun
07:45 MisterHatt aha
07:45 MisterHatt you've done so in production ever?
07:45 sri nope
07:46 sri i know xantus did
07:46 MisterHatt hmm, if I was to use a module for it, any in particular that are favoured?
07:47 sri all i know are mostly garbage
07:47 MisterHatt hmm
07:48 MisterHatt I guess I can write a small access wrapper for my app
07:48 MisterHatt just with the user agent
07:49 sri most on cpan don't even seem to do keepalive
07:50 sri and with useragent you can go non-blocking
07:51 MisterHatt I'm not really sure of the advantage with nonblocking
07:51 sri then i guess you shouldn't use it
07:52 MisterHatt I just dont fully get what it is
07:53 sri yea, don't do it, huge topic
07:54 MisterHatt I'll take your word on it
07:54 MisterHatt looks like there is a module that uses anyevent and is non-blocking but I dont know if I need non-blocking or not and anyevent is probably overkill for what I need anyway
07:55 sri you really need to read up on the topic before going there
07:55 MisterHatt indeed
08:17 * marcus blocks sri
08:17 * sri forks marcus
08:18 * marcus is trying to figure out how to get high scores from pinball machines over the parallel port.
08:18 marcus can't be that hard, right? :)
08:18 sri Oo
08:19 marcus looking at http://membres.multimania.fr/regismalt/

10:47 sri hmm, hello world running at 1000 rps out of the box now, wonder if a gsoc student could get more out of it
10:50 sri biggest hotspots are Mojo::Headers and Mojo::URL, pretty much expected
10:52 sri fullstack framework with the performance of a micro framework :)
10:53 * sri is quite happy
10:58 sri it's actually the header accessors that eat so much performance
10:58 sri ->content_type and the like add up
11:01 marcus so inlining some of that stuff in request processing would help?
11:02 marcus sri: be sure you find a motivated student if you're doing gsoc again.
11:03 sri i'm not advertising it or anything, if there is someone motivated here or in my twitter stream i would mentor though
11:04 sri since i'm interested in clever profiling too
11:06 sri marcus: some refactoring in Mojo::Headers could result in huge improvements
11:07 sri inlining not needed
11:07 sri as far as i can see
11:07 marcus ook
11:08 sri at the level where we are now it would be pretty much only for hello world though
11:08 moritz ... which is the only thing anyone ever benchmarks :-)
11:08 sri yea :S
11:09 sri the redis guy has now written his own ruby template language that's only good for hello world
11:09 sri i think he's a clever troll

16:03 stephan48 it seems like mojo help daemon features: "--proxy Activate reverse proxy support, defaults to the value of MOJO_REVERSE_PROXY." where can i find more about this param?
16:03 stephan48 i failed to find this options in code
16:06 sri it's underdocumented
16:06 sri but you would prolly know what it means if you needed it ;p
16:07 stephan48 sri: i just stumpled upon it :)
16:07 stephan48 i just trying to find the code using it atm :)
16:08 stephan48 hypnotoad only?
16:09 sri you seriously need better tools
16:10 sri are you searching manually? Oo
16:10 stephan48 ;)
16:10 stephan48 "grep proxy * > somefile; vim somefile" ;)
16:10 stephan48 grep -r*
16:10 stephan48 in codebase of mojo
16:11 sri get ack
16:11 stephan48 mh?
16:11 purl mh is a unix commandline-based mail user agent or at http://www.ics.uci.edu/~mh/ or Men's Health magazine or a "women's magazine" for men or Getty's way of saying hm or your way of saying hm
