04:03 k-man I'm testing out this code but it doesn't seem to work as expected: http://showmetheco.de/articles/2010/2/using-jquery-and-ajax-in-mojolicious.html
04:03 k-man it appears to have a virtual file in the code, but when I run it, I get Template "index.html.ep" not found.
04:25 sri k-man: a) don't use vti code b) don't trust examples that are over a year old
04:25 k-man sri, what is vti? the authors name?
04:25 sri yes
04:26 k-man ok
04:26 k-man sri, the other day you said to me I should be using templates
04:26 sri you should be using templates
04:27 k-man can you elaborate a little more? or point me to some examples or doco that explains more?
04:27 sri http://mojolicio.us/perldoc
04:27 sri it's all there
04:28 k-man sri, ok, thanks

06:07 stephanj sri: why the no vti rule?
06:12 sri because by now he's known to be malicious
06:12 sri he will intentionally sabotage
06:14 k-man really?
06:14 k-man why so?
06:15 sri a person that publishes security vulnerabilities before reporting them is capable of everything
06:16 k-man hmmm
06:17 stephanj k
06:17 stephanj this code piece k-man posted from vti looked actually clean from malicious code
06:17 sri there is a lot more i don't really want to discuss anymore, just be careful with his stuff and always double check

06:35 k-man sri, what is involved in doing a win7 test run?
06:35 k-man I run win7
06:35 k-man I could do a test run if you like if its not too involveD?
06:35 sri just a make test run
06:35 sri perl Makefile.PL; make test;
06:36 k-man which version of perl? and get from which repo?
06:36 sri github version
06:36 sri activeperl and strawberry ideally
06:36 sri activeperl is more likely to break
06:36 k-man I have strawberry already installed
06:37 sri then test that
06:37 k-man ok
06:38 sri you can use the github download link if you don't have git
06:39 k-man I seem to have git
06:39 k-man must have installed it a few eons ago
06:42 k-man I don't have make
06:42 k-man hmmm
06:42 sri it's called cmake or so
06:43 k-man nope
06:43 sri nmake
06:43 k-man nope
06:43 sri it is there though ;p
06:43 k-man I have cygwin
06:43 sri just a different name
06:43 k-man can I use it's make?
06:43 sri i guess
06:44 k-man oh, I do have nmake, must not be in the path though
06:44 sri strawberry should come with a make though, it just has a different name
06:45 k-man which pastebin do you prefer?
06:46 k-man http://pastebin.com/VQFrU10E
06:46 k-man I'm using perl v5.12.0
06:47 sri hmm, ok, that's just your make not working
06:47 k-man that was with gmake and nmake
06:47 k-man hmmm...
06:47 k-man gmake from straweberry
06:47 k-man nmake from visual studio
06:48 k-man what about dmake?
06:48 sri sadly i have no idea how it's supposed to be done on windows
06:48 k-man hehe
06:48 k-man oh, I have an idea, there are the unix tools for win32
06:48 k-man maybe there is a make in that
06:50 sri i would expect the one that ships with strawberry perl to work
06:52 k-man weird how it says the error is near line 1
06:52 stephanj k-man: dmake
06:53 k-man ahh
06:53 sri it obviously didn't understand the makefile syntax
06:53 k-man thats the key
06:53 stephanj before you now test every letter infront of make ;)
06:53 k-man stephanj, that was the only one I didn't try
06:53 miyagawa_ is now known as miyagawa
06:54 k-man sri, what do I do after the test complets?
06:54 sri i'd like a happy smiley
06:54 stephanj look for warnings that should be there and c&pb them
06:54 k-man oh, I like this one: mojo/user_agent.t ........................... skipped: Windows is too fragile
06:54 k-man does it log the output?
06:55 sri just nopaste if a test fails
06:55 sri if all pass that would be perfect
06:55 k-man passed - a few tests were skiped as I don't have those modules
06:55 sri \o/
06:55 k-man I can install and test those too
06:56 sri k-man++
06:56 sri not necessary
06:56 k-man ok
06:56 sri i was mostly wondering about the default cases
06:57 sri t/mojo/asset.t, t/mojo/home.t and t/mojolicious/websocket_lite_app.t were causing most problems in the past
06:57 k-man damn why is the windows terminal so crap - its like 2011 and you still can't drag to widen it
06:57 stephanj its windows!
06:57 stephanj or do you just make your windows larger by draging on the edges?
06:57 sri i guess it's release time
06:58 k-man t/mojolicious/websocket_tls_proxy_lite_app.t .. skipped: IO::Socket::SSL 1.37 re
06:58 sri that one doesn't matter

14:22 ph1g Tidings!
14:23 ph1g I'm in the process of learning mojo (which is pretty friggin sweat, btw) and I've been looking for a feature that exists in some java/groovy frameworks that I like.
14:23 ph1g One in particular is recognizing extensions. I can add detection to my controller, but I wonder if there was a plugin or something builtin to do this automatically.
14:23 ph1g For example "index.json" or "index.yaml" renders the model in the respective format.
14:25 * moritz thought mojolicious did that automatically
14:25 ph1g Pretty sure I can catch this and do it in the controller or in the templates maybe like index.json.epl
14:25 sri http://mojolicio.us/perldoc?Mojolicious/Lite#Formats
14:26 ph1g sri: I get it, but I was hoping to skip the need for the template - since the model really would never change
14:26 sri then i don't get the question
14:27 ph1g ? Rather than having to create a template for index.json.epl and have do the simple render_json, it would be nice if it could automatically render_json on the model with out having to write the one line for all of my models
14:28 sri return $self->render_json(...) if $self->param('format') eq 'json';?
14:28 ph1g As an argument to the requestion? Rather than an exentions on the end of the url?
14:28 ph1g *request
14:29 sri no, you don't do anything different, it is just there
14:29 ph1g orly.
14:29 ph1g gotcha, i'll play with that.
14:29 ph1g thanks

16:19 mateu sri: can you explain/justify what you mean by this statement: "it easily beats most web frameworks that were specifically designed for Plack from the get-go" ?
